Mary Ellen Posted February 4, 2015 #26 Share Posted February 4, 2015 And I've never been disturbed by a neighbor's TV. I wish we could say the same. BTW, when DH plays his acoustic guitar it is louder than the TV. ;)
Rare POA1 Posted February 4, 2015 #27 Share Posted February 4, 2015 Could I bring a small set of drums? No. Bongos are fine, as are timpani. No full drum kit though.** You can bring kettle drums as long as you pay $18 per drum head at embarkation. Finger cymbals & triangles may be used in your stateroom. You can play the xylophone, but only on your balcony, and not during refueling operations. **Pretty much a total fabrication. Hope it elicited a chuckle. Viesczy Posted February 4, 2015 #28 Share Posted February 4, 2015 I am a life long musician, if you're off put bringing a long a travel guitar there are the practice necks available so his left hand can keep up. Those necks are usually no more than 8 frets. I am not a fan of those as guitar is the coordination of both the left and right hand, but in a pinch they will suffice. mtiffany24 Posted February 4, 2015 #29 Share Posted February 4, 2015 Sure, you can bring on board anything and as much as you like as long as you can reasonably fit it in your cabin UNLESS it's an item that HAL specifically prohibits like firearms, explosives, chemicals, irons, etc. Musical instruments would be allowed and you can play it as long as it doesn't disturb other passengers. How about a bicycle? I was once told on a Carnival cruise I couldn't bring one.
jtl513 Posted February 4, 2015 #30 Share Posted February 4, 2015 (edited) OP said he wants to play in their 'room'. Right. I was suggesting alternatives that would not disturb neighbors. How about a bicycle? I was once told on a Carnival cruise I couldn't bring one. Where would you store it? It would be a nuisance to others in halls and elevators ... but I guess no more than scooters. I saw one being wheeled down a HAL gangway in Europe once, but I think the man was crew.. I think some (if not all) HAL ships have some bicycles aboard for crew to borrow. mtiffany: As to guests, I think arrangements can be made to bring a bicycle aboard. Perhaps you could call Ships Services to inquire. 800-541-1576 Edited February 4, 2015 by sail7seas
Oceanwench Posted February 4, 2015 #32 Share Posted February 4, 2015 Ignore the naysayers and the sarcasm that always follows an innocent question ... Take the guitar. Maybe your piano bar player will invite your DH to play along one night. Guess I have the best sound-proofed cabins on all of my cruises. :D Never hear a peep. This last cruise we were actually under the Lido. No noise from there, either.
