sailandcruise Posted February 7, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2015 CCL had 10.6 million passenger in 2014. (see http://www.statista.com/statistics/266274/passengers-of-cruise-operator-carnival-corporation-und-plc/ ) So his $8.7M in compensation comes out to about 82 cents for each cruiser, on the average of course. sailandcruise Posted February 7, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 7, 2015 (edited) The link won't post for me. Is compensation another word for salary? Try copying the link and pasting it in the address bar of your browser. In his case, compensation includes $1m salary, $3.5m in stock awards, an additional $3.9m of "non-equity" incentives, and $291k in other compensation including personal use of the corporate aircraft. Oceanwench Posted February 7, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 7, 2015 Funny - I was getting off the Regal Princess and he was right in front of me. He and a staff member got onto the elevator in the terminal right ahead of us. The Princess shoreside staffer greeted him, wished him a safe trip home, etc. After the doors to the elevator closed, I said to the staffer, "Did you know that's your boss? The BIG boss?" He straightened up and said, "Oh, no, did I do OK?"

I've forgotten the name of the company they hired to do this but I think it is Intercoastal something or other. :) HAL did their own shoreside embark/debark managing until a few years ago. You are correct. It's a third party contractor. I should know the company's name because they're in the newspaper, running ads. (But I don't :()

I've never been on Princess and it's all new to me. The staffer was at the end of the gangway, directing people into the elevator or to the escalator. Anyway, it was a funny moment. :) You just never know ...

freestyling Posted February 7, 2015 Author #13 Share Posted February 7, 2015 Who is Betty? Just one of the terminal workers in Port Everglades that we have seen for 4 years now when boarding a HAL ship. My comment was that it must be a pretty good company to work for as she seems very happy.
Oceanwench Posted February 7, 2015 #14 Share Posted February 7, 2015 The people we encountered shoreside this past cruise were awful. I guess it was due to the pressure of being hours late in boarding, and having many disgruntled passengers asking for an explanation. The crowd was restless, having been waiting in line 2-plus hours. USN59-79 Posted February 8, 2015 #16 Share Posted February 8, 2015 I met him on last years WC, where he got on at Durban (with Stein Kruse and Desmond Tutu) and off at Cape Town. I was impressed and think Carnival is in good hands with him in charge.
