RazorbackIslandGirl Posted February 10, 2015 #27 Share Posted February 10, 2015 Our last few Chops experiences were disappointing. We have changed to Giovanni's for a much better filet. IMHO The gnocchi is one of my favorites also!
StephC1217 Posted February 11, 2015 #28 Share Posted February 11, 2015 In everyone's opinion- is lunch or dinner at Giovanni's better? I was going to book dinner but lasagna sounds good too!

They can usually get you some lasagne for dinner upon request.

OCruisers Posted February 11, 2015 #31 Share Posted February 11, 2015 We paln to visit Giovanni's for lunch on embarkment day. Has anyone else done this? I see we cannot make reservations for lunch in advance. Will we have to plan to stand in line oe is there seldom a wait? Going to Giovanni's for lunch on embarkation day is an excellent decision! It allows you to get away from the mobs which you will have until all are allowed to go to their cabins and have a relaxing lunch. We were able to walk right in and be seated. Not everyone realizes what a good embarkation day option Giovanni's it. LuLu

Jiminy1955 Posted February 11, 2015 #33 Share Posted February 11, 2015 We ate at Giovani last February on the Navigator, all 8 of us loved it! Six of us will be cruising on Serenade in a couple of weeks along with another 8 people. We are eating at Giovanni's.....their food is awesome, service awesome and our filets were all wonderful. Hoping for the same experience his year.
celly Posted February 11, 2015 #34 Share Posted February 11, 2015 What is the dinner surcharge for Giovanni's ? We paid $15 for lunch and $ 25 for dinner on the Oasis october and november last year. Among our favourites are the almond crusted scallops, eggplant parmiggiana, antipasti, gnocchi, risotto, lamb chops, osso bucco, filet mignon, tiramisu and the Malaga icecream with a shot of espresso on top! For lunch the lasagna and the stuffed chicken, but also the fish was excellent. We just love the food at Giovanni's. Tried Chops again in november on the Oasis, but were not impressed with the new menu items. It is not the same quality and experience it used to be. Nowadays Giovanni's is our favourite. bjohio Posted February 11, 2015 Author #35 Share Posted February 11, 2015 It sounds like Giovanni's is outshining Chops these days- great that they have a good fillet also.

Going to eat there the first night on our Oasis cruise on the 28th. I love filets but am torn since everything sounds soooo good.
bigboffs Posted February 11, 2015 #37 Share Posted February 11, 2015 For a long time, using our BOGO, we ate in Chops the first night and on longer cruises additional nights. After the menu was changed, we found after visits on 2 different ships, that the quality of much of the food to be significantly less. We will use Chops only reluctantly when friends with whom we are dining want to go there. Then, we have the shrimp cocktail, onion soup, salad and veal chop parmesan; which are usually good. We believe Giovanni's to offer a better experience.
