Obc in casino

Yes, did this in December. Had $850 in OBC and cashed out $650 I think. Well worth the 5% as there really wasn't anything I needed on board with gratuities paid and the drink package. We did buy a few trinkets but my wife graciously used the money to shop in port. And EVERTHING in port is at least 5% cheaper than on the ship :)

I guess you could also take it home but I don't think that ever crossed her mind :)

In addition we booked onboard and got the $300 OBC applied to the cruise we were on. Went to the casino and took the money so we could pay off the deposit. So basically we have nothing tied up in our next cruise.

Edited to add: I forgot to mention that it didn't matter if it was refundable or non-refundable. They just applied the charge to our room and it worked off the OBC.

enjoy

You can always get cash in the casino. It has nothing to do with whether or not you have OBC. There is a daily limit and a 5% fee.

I think you may have missed the point of the thread. It's not about whether one can get cash from the casino; it's about whether one can "spend" their obc by getting cash in the casino, thereby turning their obc into cold hard cash (for a 5% fee).

And on a related matter, you're not always charged that 5% fee. When I was on Solstice a couple of weeks ago, the casino was running a promo whereby not only were you not charged that 5% fee, they also gave you a 15% bonus on your money. We had a $1,000 obc on that cruise so my wife and I each signed up for the promo by having $500 charged to our onboard account and each receiving $575 with which to play the slots. We thus turned our $1,000 obc into $1,150 to use in the casino. And then as an added unexpected bonus on top of that, we each made a little more money playing the slot machines!
