Balcony gurantee?

We recently did a 4 day coastal. We booked a very cheap inside on Lido and were somehow upgraded shortly before the cruise to a B2 balcony on Caribe! I didn't think that was possible but it happened to us. Not only did we get bumped up, the cabin was also a handicapped accessible cabin so it was about 1.5 times as wide as a regular balcony cabin. I base this on the fact that, when standing on our balcony, it looked to be covering about 1.5 of the balconies below us. I have no idea how why we were bumped up multiple categories.

I never understand it either. On my first cruise as Elite, and DH's very first cruise, we got a nice upgrade on the Diamond Princess, from an inside cabin to one of the extended bow balconies right under the Bridge. DH was so excited until I told him about the "upgrade fairy" and that she doesn't come along that often.:D

Oh WOW!! You will love it. Yes they are bigger and the balcony is double width, since the cabin is wider.

The bathroom is great. If you didn't look at the pix in post #11, check it out. That is what your bathroom will be like. No attacking shower curtain!

Thanks for the info

7 window suites, I think were added to the CB/Golden and a couple of other ships during extensive drydocks when they added the IC/Crown Grill/moved the casino etc.
The CB and Golden had the WS added in 2008/2009 and the Grand had them added in 2011. They were not added to the Sapphire or Star on recent major drydocks. On recent major drydocks for the Coral and the Diamond, oceanview cabins were added in that area rather than WS. Looks like the WS will only be found on the CB, Golden and Grand.

Does anyone know if these 'window suites' (e.g, a suite with no balcony) are on Diamond Princess, and if so what their numbers are. I am being offered a B2 Balcony guarantee in a situation where most balconies are sold out and TA is suggesting that upgrade seem likely, but I wouldn't want an upgrade to a room with no balcony. TIA for advice.

Finally received our room today. Same category as requested-Its a wheel chair accessible room- but I understand that's a good thing as they are bigger

Yes, you will love it, as did my wife in December. There is a ramp onto the balcony which slightly cuts down the useable space, but that is a small price to pay. We then did the second leg of a b2b on a different ship in a regular veranda cabin. What a difference!

No, only on the Caribbean, Golden and Grand Princess ships!

Just a bit over 409 days until I embark in Melbourne to sail to Sydney, Australia! They, and the Royal (I think) are the only Disabled Accessible Suites I've found on Princess Cruises, which makes cruise selection a bit limited! Oh well, at least I HAVE the option of a chance to cruise! LOL
