Two Rileys Posted March 8, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2015 What are the ramps from the terminal to ship like? I'm asking because I will be cruising with my 80-year-old mother in a few weeks and she can't do steep ramps to the ship as are in some ports. If the ramps are too steep for her, she will have to have assistance. Thank you for the info.
hbrote Posted March 8, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2015 We just came back from a cruise on the Liberty and I would say the ramps are between 10 to 20 degrees of inclination. I would ask the port for assisted boarding for your Mother and they will take you along with here on board first. Well worth it in my opinion. Hope this helps. The last ramp I was on was an eternity and unless one is very healthy and agile, it's quite an experience. Get a w/c. Don't forget there is luggage being carried too. Sixtytwo Posted March 8, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 8, 2015 Definitely ask for assistance! Also, just for grins, aren't those "ramps" called "gangways"? :)
SkyMaster Posted March 8, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 8, 2015 Yep, depending on which pier you happen to be using, the gangway is extremely LONG as well. I sometimes have a bit of trouble walking long distances, and it can be a struggle for me sometimes. I'd absolutely ask for assistance. Better safe, than sorry! ;) "SKY"
ray98 Posted March 9, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 9, 2015 Not very steep, very gradual incline.
misslucy01 Posted March 9, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 9, 2015 Was there last week and there is an elevator if needed. Misslucy01
mtsnd1900 Posted March 10, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 10, 2015 Just off the Sunshine.. Elevator or excalalator upstairs, then a long gangway onto the ship, twists and turns.. light incline, wheelchairs and pushers available. Buy the Faster to the Fun (under Carnival webpage, log in, go to your ships excursions pre-crosse. Best $50 per cabin you can spend.)
Purvis1231 Posted March 10, 2015 #10 Share Posted March 10, 2015 Contact Carnival's special needs desk and they will assign a staff member with a wheelchair to help her from curbside to the cabin. Have a great time.
