Lindypops Posted March 10, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2015 What happens on change over day when you do a back to back? Are you allowed to leave the ship? Thanks
gillsjottings Posted March 10, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 10, 2015 Not sure if this will be of any use to you, but we did a back-to-back last year on a Med cruise with Celebrity (sister company so perhaps they operate in the same way?) It was handled very smoothly, we went down to a designated point in the morning on changeover day and were issued with our new sea pass cards and then we were free to do as we wished. They organised a tour specifically for those on the back-to-back and we chose to do the tour.

Not sure of the tour part as they have always opted to enjoy a mostly empty ship.
Lindypops Posted March 10, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted March 10, 2015 Are you allowed to leave the ship on your own or do you have to be on an organised tour. We are looking at a b to b starting from San Juan and wondered if we would be able to spend the day ashore on changeover day?

Thanks The actual process varies by port and ship, but I've not heard of any situation where you are not allowed to leave at some point during changeover day. Being a US port, all guests must leave the ship and when a zero count is recorded back to back guests are allowed back on first. If you want to explore, they will give you your new seapass card as you leave with an in transit card. Upon returning to the ship, you must still go through the security checkpoint but can miss the rest of the lines and get back onto the ship. Have done a B2B in San Juan... we were escorted off the ship, went through customs/immigration. If you wanted to take off on a tour you could or re board the ship, your choice. The only caveat was if you went on a tour you could not re board until regular boarding started, you were given an "in transit" card so you did not have to go through the check in process.
