RAMSJUNKIE887 Posted March 16, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2015 Do they have it for dinner? I don't see it on the menu but thought I had read somewhere on here that they offered it. If they do and somebody has tried it would be great to know if its good or not.
surfjock27 Posted March 16, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2015 (edited) I've seen chatter of lasagna also, but when I was on the Breeze this past December the server told us they did not serve lasagna at dinner. Maybe at lunch? Edited March 16, 2015 by surfjock27
Rare sandinmyshoes Posted March 16, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 16, 2015 They had lasagna at Cucina El Capitano on the Magic and it was out of this world! Everything we ate there was outstanding. Enjoy for us!!!
Miller_KC Posted March 16, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 16, 2015 I had Lasagna there for lunch on the Dream but I don't know if it is available for Dinner. It was very good.
drosphot Posted March 16, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 16, 2015 (edited) Was on Magic Decemeber 2014 and was disappointed it was not on the dinner menu. I forget what I ended up getting but it was delicious! Edited March 16, 2015 by drosphot
nwcruiselover Posted March 16, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 16, 2015 As others have said, it's not on the dinner menu, but it's available at lunch. I didn't care for the lunch lasagna. To me it seemed like it was made with leftover meat from the MDR. Maybe just not to my liking since others seem to enjoy it.
euphscott Posted March 16, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 16, 2015 The lasagna is for the lunch menu only - and as mentioned above - it is made from leftover brisket and or steak from the previous meals. I found it fantastic - and will be enjoying on my next Magic trip!

I found it fantastic - and will be enjoying on my next Magic trip! I really don't think so. Very little is allowed to be used as "leftovers", due to USPH requirements on temperature control. The only way that meat can be used a second day is if they cook it, remove it from the oven and immediately move it to a blast chiller to reduce the internal temperature from 140* to 34* in six hours or less, and then store it in the walk-in fridge. This would indicate that they were cooking something they knew they weren't going to use (it cannot go from the oven to the hot service line, and then be chilled for reuse), not like they cooked one or two too many and then put them into the fridge. The ship's galleys are far more restricted on temperature/time control than land restaurants.
MrMileStoner Posted March 16, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 16, 2015 Because there is no charge for the pasta bar for lunch, and lasagna is sometime served in the MDR, perhaps there is not much demand by cruisers wanting to pay for it at night. You could always ask once on the ship if they can accommodate, but I would ask at least a day in advance.
vwrestler171 Posted March 16, 2015 #10 Share Posted March 16, 2015 It was available for lunch and I heard from several in our group that is was pretty good.
Velvetwater Posted March 16, 2015 #11 Share Posted March 16, 2015 Cant wait to try this on the Vista! Although it will not compare to the Italian offerings in ports, the genuine article is the business. I make lasagna at home by mincing up left over beef from other meals, its delicious!I was pleasantly surprised how tasty the MDR lasagne was so I am hoping the Cucina offering is even better.
