Black Beards Castle

We are looking for a tour that includes Blackbeards castle. Have looked on the Carnival website since we will be arriving on the liberty in April. Is anyone familiar with an excursion that may include seeing St. Thomas as well as Blackbeards castle

Castle only open Tue and Wed. If your ship doesn't offer excursion you have to DIY. Take taxi from ship to castle.

If you are in shape, walk up the "99 steps" to the castle from the taxi stop, do the tour $10 each, and then walk back downtown as the tour ends almost downtown anyway. This doesn't get you to any other sights on the island but is easy to do on your own.

How far is Black Beard's Castle from the cruise ports?? Approx the cost for a cab? Or is it within walking distance from the shops downtown???

 

I don't see limited hours on their website. It's posted as---

• Monday - Thursday from 9am to 2pm.
  
• After 1st January: Tuesday & Wednesday from 9am - 2pm

The closing announcement was on their website maybe 2 months ago, but when I checked last week, I noticed it wasn't there. Some real estate brokers listed the property for sale in Feb, but Google didn't reveal sale or closing when I looked the other week.

 

It would be nice if one of the cruise lines would take it over. It was a great attraction when they had the Amber Museum, rum factory, and bar at Hotel 1829.

It doesn't seem far from the downtown area etc where the stores are but I'm unsure if it's safe to walk... Any idea?
