Yes, On the Breakaway there is a large area in H2O where smoking is permitted

It's strange re: waterfront because their official policy on NCL specifically states that 'On Norwegian Getaway and Norwegian Breakaway, smoking on The Waterfront will be permitted on the starboard side, except by the outdoor dining areas.'

Hi All,

Thanks so much for the updated information regarding the Breakaway and Star. I have updated my spreadsheet.

However, I will not be following or monitoring this thread anymore due to how old it is and the fact that so many of the comments are off topic/purpose.

Please post any updated facts on the designated smoking areas to this thread:

Thank you for this thread. Being a smoker is hard these days, huh?

I am following to find out where I am going to be able to go on the new Encore. There was only 1 on Bliss (in spice) according to your charts, and the Encore doesn't even have a Spice H20.

I was on the Getaway last October and there were 3 open places to smoke, and we still felt cramped. I can't even imagine 1. I think smokers are a decent % of the population seeing as how the smoking areas were packed at ALL hours on my last cruise.

What about smoking area on the Dawn?

Starboard side by the pool (deck 12).  The whole starboard side on deck 7.  The casino and the cigar lounge (deck 6).  The Dawn is one of the most smoker considerate ships.

I'm a former smoker (almost 6 months) after the worse ship for smokers I've ever been on, Carnival Paradise.  I was given a JUUL for Christmas from my husband.  I was only intending to use it during airport confinements.  I was so fed up after the 1st day on the Paradise that I started ducking into the nearest convenient bathroom to use the JUUL.  Also in the stateroom.  There is no odor.  Although I was pretty ticked off at the time, this is the best thing that's ever happened!  It's total freedom!  No more panic on "where can I smoke".  You'd be surprised how easy it is to get away with using it discretely.  I've even done it on airplanes.

Oh, and I will NEVER be one of those "former smokers" who looks down their noses at current smokers.  After smoking for 40 plus years, my heart is still with you all!

I'm curious about any further intel on the Bliss besides Spice. On Escape the upper pool bar area had a smoking section. And there were a lot of smokers in Spice, a LOT, they actually expanded where you could smoke around the bar 2 days into our last cruise.  We're going in Dec. from NYC to Florida & Bahamas, so maybe it will change due to different demographic, and more outdoor opportunities?

Just got off the Norwegian Joy.  They've closed the smoking area by Spice H20 and built a glassed in area on Deck 16 Starboard Side right across from the hot tubs by the kids pool area.   It state's "Smoking Lounge" on the glass, but there are no chairs or tables.   They moved the stand up ashtrays from the Spice H20 and built two small L shaped shelve areas one for each end.   Most people walked past the starboard side outdoor seating of the Garden Cafe and grabbed a chair to bring in.   That area would have anywhere from 5 to 20 people in it at the same time most of the bars onboard were close to empty.   Rumor had it that they plan on doing this on all of their ships.    Shame really.  Meet some of the nicest people in the smoking area.

NCL is very inconsistent unfortunately. Getaway already has the pool deck smoking room and still allows smoking at Spike.
