TheTruthCanHurt Posted March 20, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 20, 2015 they are 2 completely different ships. If price was similar I would take the liberty in a heart beat. It's newer, bigger and in my opinion if the ship does not have a royal promenade (as the liberty does) than it's just a ship (no matter whos line it is) plus a mini suite on the grand is probably the same size as a d1 balcony on the liberty (check that, but I bet im right)
cb at sea Posted March 20, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 20, 2015 I vote for Liberty, too. (And, I know you didn't ask, but I'd go to a warmer destination, even in the summer!)

This was why I questioned what month. Canada can be cold. Doesn't Grandeur have a covered solarium?
Bmorecruiser021 Posted March 21, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 21, 2015 Grandeur vs Liberty for New England Canada in 2016? Will be booking mini suite. Honestly it depends on what you are looking for. DW and I really like the indoor pool in the solarium that Grandeur has, but really liked the ice rink and flow Rider of Liberty. I LOVE the intimacy of the casino and always being able to find a seat at a table or slot available for DW on Grandeur, not always true with Liberty. We always indulge and by a photo package, but Grandeur does not offer CD's with all your pictures, Liberty does. Liberty has more space/ more cabins so depending on your cruise it may be cheeper by comparison. LOVE the port of Baltimore, so easy to get in and out of, Bayonne was way more hectic. DW and I like the smaller ships, less commotion, so check mark for Grandeur there. I Know I didn't exactly answer your question, but I say again, depends on what you are looking for on your cruise [emoji1] hope I helped a little and good luck, what ever decision you make, hope you have a wonderful cruise [emoji106]
Stateroom_Sailor Posted March 21, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 21, 2015 Grandeur vs Liberty for New England Canada in 2016? Will be booking mini suite. We were looking at this ourselves, but we're going to go with Holland America because we can go straight to Quebec. In our case, itinerary is #1. None the less, the Grandeur is cheaper, especially if airfare and hotel is a factor. Boston is a good deal, but it's only 7 days, and again higher airfare and hotel. We like the promenades ourselves. Each option comes with pros and cons.
Merion_Mom Posted March 21, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 21, 2015 Grandeur vs Liberty for New England Canada in 2016? Will be booking mini suite. Liberty is the wrong ship in 2016. She will have sailed to Galveston. By 2016, the ship doing Canada/New England out of Bayonne will be the Anthem. The Serenade will also do this itinerary, out of Boston, in 2016. Consider the convenience of getting to port. You don't post your home town, but I would guess that you could drive to either Baltimore or Bayonne. Is that true? From some of your earlier posts, I am going to guess that you would like the Grandeur better. It is smaller and cozier and more intimate. And yes, the Solarium is covered, for an indoor pool experience, even if you hit cool weather. Anthem has this feature, too, though. Grandeur will cost much less than Anthem, unless something drastic happens.
earn Posted March 21, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 21, 2015 Have sailed both twice. I prefer Grandeur, but our boys love Liberty. Liberty junior suite seemed quite a bit bigger than Grandeur's. I do like the Promonade but also the atrium on Grandeur, and the covered pool, could be a god send if it is cooler. I also felt the staff on grandeur were more relaxed and happier. tapemann Posted March 21, 2015 #10 Share Posted March 21, 2015 Picking a Cruise is always tradeoffs. Which one better suits what you want. These are two different ships. They all have things in common. They are on the water, all have plenty to keep you busy, and you will have all the food you want. Just pick what your budget is and enjoy the time. odisalbert Posted March 21, 2015 Author #11 Share Posted March 21, 2015 Yes the Anthem did just replace the Librrty. Hometown Denver and we want something other than Bermuda, Bahamas etc. love Fall colors. Put an option on the Anthem junior spa suite last night and am doing some more research on Quantum class before depositing. Seems main issue Is DD. Not sure we would like that.:)
