Can we use OBC in the casino

Recommended Posts

We have OBC on our next cruise and may struggle to use it since we have the drinks package included, Can we use OBC as cash in the casino?

How would we take the cash out? we don't gamble but a few $ on the slots maybe fun.

Last year we has a $ or so left of OBC and found this was credited to our card when we got home, Is this normal, would they credit $$$ amounts back to the card.

Is the system not clever enough to detect OBC rather than prepaid credit to the on board account?

The only way you can do that is to go to the casino cashier and do a cash advance. (you can do up to a certain amount on your room). However, if you are not a member of the club royal casino program there is a fee of either 25.00 or 50.00 per transaction (I cant remember which) so depending on how much you want to gamble and how big your OBC is.. it may not be worth it.

I would bring any "gambling" money, and let the unused OBC come back to you in full! However, if it's "non-refundable", then you can cash it out in the casino...I think it's a 3-6% charge (I can't remember!)...not a flat fee....

You can take cash out at the casino. There is a 5% service charge. If you have leftover refundable credit at the end of the cruise it will be credited back to the credit card that you used when you checked in

The key word is refundable. Not all OBC is refundable. For instance, OBC given as part of a promotion is not refundable, that's use or lose. If you have non-refundable OBC make sure you hit the casino by the last night and pay the fee to withdraw what you can. :)

As all of the posters after these two posts stated, the fee for taking cash at the casino is 5%.

Why do people GUESS when they don't know the answer?

One IS permitted to NOT answer a question on Cruise Critic.

My point was.. YES there is a fee and if, for example you only had a $100 or $200 obc do you really want to eat that up with a percentage? but I appreciate your rude sarcasm just the same.. Thank you ;)

I didn't think it was rude, and I was not being sarcastic. I was being totally and utterly straightforward.

When I don't know the answer to someone's question, I don't post a guess. I hope that someone who DOES know the answer will post it. I refrain from responding. Restraint is a good thing.
