Princess lady does Carnival Valor

Got a great deal on a Carnival cruise but have a few questions.

On the slot machines, can you charge money on your cruise card right from the machine?

It's an 8 night cruise, are there self serve laundries on each deck? Are there machines to buy soap? How much are the washers and dryers?

Thanks a lot! :)

I have sailed Princess several times, as well as the Valor twice. Would go on both, which are quite different.

Carnival excels with entertainment and production shows. The Valor has an 80's show that I really like.

Princess ships are just gorgeous with that elegant Atrium; Carnival has an atrium but no Piazza. Carnival is much more casual and I (gasp!) wear SHORTS in the dining room!!! There will be an "Elegant Night" where you can get spiffy... or not so spiffy. On Elegant Night there are no shorts in the dining room.

Laundry is $3/wash & $3/dry (used to be $2). My last cruise actually needed quarters. Bring your own soap (Tide Pods work well) and dryer sheets and save some money and get cleaner clothes too. Check deck plan for locations. My last Valor cruise had us going down a deck to do laundry, which I did about every other day (I don't like dirty clothes or an overstuffed suitcase.)

Slots are done like every other ship I've been on. Insert card, create account, and charge off your room. When you're done you may cash out your card.

Enjoy!

I have to say I do not agree with Rinderroo...I much prefer Princess's entertainment than Carnivals but everyone has a different opinion. The soap and softener were $1 each last time if I remember correctly, may have gone up. $3 to wash, $3 to dry...same as Princess.

Here are the locations for the Valor laundry:

Riviera Deck 1 - midship / across from 1357 and 1359

Main Deck 2 - midship / across from 2365 and 2367

Upper Deck 6 - midship / across from 6385 and 6387

Empress Deck 7 - midship / across from 7337 and 7339

Verandah Deck 8 - midship / across from 8349 and 8351

Lido Deck 9 - midship / across from 9268 and 9270

Function: Self-Service Launderette

2 or 3 washers

2 or 3 dryers

1 iron and ironing board

Vending machines dispense small boxes of detergent and water softener ($)

Everything in Princess EXCEEDS Carnival....Princess entertainment much better, buffets much better and MDR blows Carnival away. Carnivals casino and how they treat people that accumulate points blows Princess away!

I've got 28 cruises on Princess, so doing laundry is going to be different! Thanks for the locations of the laundry.

Looking forward to checking out the casino!

Oh I agree! Free laundry for us on Carnival but our last 3 cruises were on Princess and I had to do laundry...especially since we were sailing for 26 days last time. Will have free laundry on Princess soon though.:D:D

Princess has better food and shows. No IC on Carnival, that is what I really would miss. Also rooms are not ready when you board. Unless you have a suite or purchase FTTF you have to shlep around your luggage until 130 on Carnival. Safety briefing are out around the tenders, not relaxing in a lounge setting. The casino is full blown (no pun intended)smoking every day, all day. Not like Princess where there are 2 smoke free nights. So I'd rather save a bit longer and do Princess but to each his own. Have Fun.

I will miss the IC. Carnival is not going to take over my loyalty to Princess, but this cruise was a steal! :)

I don't know if you like to drink booze or not but let me tell you what works for me as a blackjack player. Your mileage may vary.

I always make it a point to show up at the casino before they open on the first night. I make small talk with the casino host and whoever else's ear I can bend.

Even if you know the answers ask the host what does it take to earn comps, drinks etc. Be pleasant and let them know you have heard good things about them.

My wife and I are mostly 10 and 25 dollar blackjack players and we get free drinks in a hurry. We were awarded 3 free cruises between April and September. Over the four cruise we took from April through September we lost a combined total of 3k. On our last cruise, which was free, we had free drinks from the first night, a steakhouse dinner and two bottles of wine.

On my next cruise which is in April, my wife has free drinks from the start and we are getting $250.00 in cash.

By free drinks, I mean when we are playing.

Like I said get to know the casino workers and be nice and as stated earlier your mileage may vary.
