Carnival Conquest, March 15, 15 Review

Doing Tulum is a definite through Carnival. It's a full 8 hours and one hiccup and you could miss the ship. Tulum is excellent and so worth the Carnival charge. The only thing I didn't like was having to walk through all the vendors to get to the bus afterwards. 50 people selling the same Tshirts and cigars. Plus they didn't like hearing No Thank You.

Went to Tulum on my very first cruise on Carnival Jubilee in April 2001. It was wonderful. Long, hot day, though!

I'm a huge fan of Fantasy, too. I have almost 40 nights on her with at least one more already booked (4/30/16). I haven't sailed her since Risa left so don't know what impact that has had, but she's had the best food and crew that I've experienced on Carnival. I love the old gal.

I sailed Conquest on the San Juan-Miami repo in November 2013 and have a great time. It was a fantastic 8-night sailing with a very lively Roll Call. Elina, the casino hostess, was great. I don't suppose you happen to know if she's still on the ship, because I just booked the 5/31 Premier Casino sailing on Conquest.

While I'm a big fan of Guys, Blue Iguana and Fish & Chips, I certainly don't go hungry on Fantasy. I love the deli sandwiches (I never eat from the regular buffet). And the Best Wait Staff Ever (Rafael and Seville, regular dining) are my special guys.

No matter which ship I've been on, it always seems as though people are cleaning and maintenance is happening in the exterior areas. Other recent reviews on Conquest has said she needs some cosmetic work. I tend to not notice. I mostly have interior cabins but I know that windows get dirty/salty. I don't expect the exterior of the ship to be spotless. I can't even imagine what it's like to keep the salt corrosion under control!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to sailing Conquest again. I almost booked Breeze, but the same itinerary for a comparable inside cabin (as a solo) was over $400 more. No thanks! The ship isn't that important to me, so I'm not paying more for the same itinerary.

Hi, you mention that the tendering process at GC was a bit crazy and I am wondering how it works for those that do not have a Carnival excursion booked?

We don't have FTTF on our upcoming Conquest cruise and we are taking the public bus once we are on land.

If the whole process takes what sounds like a good amount of time, I may need to rethink our plans. ho hum

Best I could tell - there were two lines to get off - one for general tendering and then the excursions. I am sure people who had not booked excursions got off faster then we did - on an aside, this is where the FTTF might have been of benefit as it is suppose to include priority tendering.

I would suggest asking for price is U.S. before agreeing to any purchase. I will definitely do things different next time we visit.

I know ... two things helped us I think - first we speak some Spanish so when you responded in Spanish they seemed to shrug you off and moved on to the people behind you - I seriously think it surprised them. second, when we came back out we went to Frosty's and grabbed some beer and tacos - they kept all those people away from you.

I spent 8 years in the Navy - I completely understand the challenges of corrosion. Putting that aside, there were still lots of issues - things that would have been unacceptable at any branded hotel on land. We, like you, love the Fantasy - it is the ship that got us hooked.

We are looking at the Dream next, but I would happily sail on the Fantasy or any Fantasy class ship again.

and agree again the dude on the soundboard did a crappy job ! way to loud, and he ruined the guitar solo dude... but damn that one singer the blond, she could sing !

Great review, can't wait for more - been following this review and some Imagination/Inspiration reviews since i just recently booked the Imagination - love the contrast and compare

Just from your pictures, sounds like this class of ship is MUCH better than Fantasy - also the decor looks less garish than on the fantasy class

I speak as well but they never knew. Once I heard "gordo", it could have been free...

Was the aft pool area designated "adults only" and if so, was it being enforced?

It is adult on,y - I never saw kids in the pool or loungers. Do be aware that the "area" is not adult only like a serenity deck - the pizza place is there and a fair amount of traffic - kids can get soft drinks on their bubbles card at the bar.

Well, my review is back on page 6 so I guess it has run it's course or it isn't interesting enough.

Here is the bottom line

It was a cruise therefore it was awesome and fun.

We are not in love with the Conquest, but did enjoy some of the options is offers.

Will sail on her again if the dates and ports are right for us.

Just ask me questions from here on if you want to know anything.

I am enjoying your review and the photos of the ship. I like the mural design over the glitz on some of the other ships. I will be on Conquest in Nov 2015. There is interesting and useful information in your review. I have not been on a ship that has fish & chips and Guy's Burgers. I will definitely give them a try. Thanks for posting your review.
