thatdarnpunk Posted March 27, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 27, 2015 Looks like we missed the deadline for luggage tags to be mailed to us (we haven't done online check in for our April 5th cruise yet). What options are available to us? Is there a printing option or can we pick up at the dock? If so, is there a long line? Thanks!
lola2013 Posted March 27, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 27, 2015 There should be luggage tags included when you do your online check-in and print your Express Pass. They are not self-stick, but you can just staple the ends together.

When you arrive at the pier for embarkation, there will be plenty of porters to take your bags from you and they will put luggage tags on your bags with your room number that is hand written. Hapytocruise Posted March 27, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 27, 2015 If you do decide to print your own...I reinforce the paper with clear packing tape and bring along a tiny stapler(purchased at the $ store) to attach just before we leave for the pier
Beanb41 Posted March 27, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 27, 2015 You can print the tags off your E Docs and the attached You Tube clip advises how to make them more sturdy
kristapb Posted March 28, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 28, 2015 Not a problem - we were travelling and did not get or tags; it was a non-event at the pier. It took the porter about 2 minutes to make and attach tags to our three bags for our recent cruise on the Equinox,
az_tchr Posted March 28, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 28, 2015 krista - Absolutely. Don't bother getting them any other way than showing your express pass to the porters and having them label your bags. No wait. No fuss no issues. FWIW - I do tape with wide tape a piece of paper with our cabin number to each bag in case the tags come off. Also one should always have their name and contact info on a luggage tag or inside. That way your bag will almost 100% of the time reach you!

But if there is a line, those of us who are able-bodied do-it-yourself types just walk over, pick up a handful of luggage tags, write our cabin number on them and attach them ourselves. Cooso Posted March 28, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 28, 2015 Assume it's easy to find the porters? Are they near check in? Strange question but do we tip them?! (Being British, don't understand who we give money to!) Thatdarnpunk - see you on the cruise :)
varoo Posted March 28, 2015 #10 Share Posted March 28, 2015 (edited) Assume it's easy to find the porters? Are they near check in? Very easy. They are right outside the entrance to the cruise terminal, where your taxi or car or van or bus pulls up to drop you off. At some ports the porters come right over to your vehicle and start tagging the bags. At other ports, they have a station that is easy to spot where you bring your bags over to them. Strange question but do we tip them?! (Being British, don't understand who we give money to!) This is a controversial subject and there have been a number of threads about it on these boards with arguments both ways. All I will say about it is that we always do, and our reason for doing so has nothing whatsoever to do with whether or not they are well paid. ;) Edited March 28, 2015 by varoo
cb at sea Posted March 29, 2015 #11 Share Posted March 29, 2015 (edited) The porters are everywhere....they are easy to find! Real luggage tags! Too cool! $1-2 per bag is customary. Edited March 29, 2015 by cb at sea
