CowPrincess Posted April 27, 2015 #1126 Share Posted April 27, 2015 Very glad Immigration wasn't the usual gong show. It is so hard to believe that for some of you your cruise is nearly over, and for some of you, it IS over.
SilvertoGold Posted April 27, 2015 #1127 Share Posted April 27, 2015 To me I'd rather hear what could or might not be. On my cruise there were several newbies. I'm pretty sure they never took a cruise again after that. Maybe someone told them that cruise is smooth as silk:D. I'd rather say what I've experienced then let people think there could be no problems at all. If there are none it will be great news. I'd love a cruise that is like a lake but it doesn't happen often. Yes, I agree completely. I've seen the horrified look of those I assumes were newbies when it got rough. Much better to be prepared! That cruise like a lake: once to Hawaii from SD. Flat as glass, some pax were quite happy. I prefer some movement, myself: not all that interesting a crossing, except it was easier to spot the flying fish.

Just not telling DH ;) I have given Him a small warning on this part. Had a marvelous lunch with Marcia (dobiemom) at Anthony's. Really decent food. Forgot to take food porn pics, sorry. How nice of her to travel all this way to meet up with us. We are very lucky indeed :)
Rare kazu Posted April 27, 2015 Author #1130 Share Posted April 27, 2015 (edited) Never came on a ship so late in my life. 15 minutes to all aboard. Anthony's is so close to the ship that it was easy. Marcia walked us back. Hope she has a great cruise on the Noordam in just a few days Edited April 27, 2015 by kazu
Rare 1of4 Posted April 28, 2015 #1131 Share Posted April 28, 2015 Just waved like crazy to DH standing on the pier. We were all the way forward on the bow. :o Can anyone tell me b the location of the tablet meeting tomorrow? I know it is 10:00 but I neglected to write down the location. Is it still a go? Can't answer the questipn, but we had a seat saved for you at the aft lido - but glad you got to wave to DH. I came in as it got too hot and I was burning. Witnessed someone yelling at the crew earlier because the noise of the muster alarms was "too loud" and no one was explaining what was happening, and this is not fun... etc etc . She could have tried listenimg. Horrible to see "our crew friends" being treated like this. Life onboard has changed ....

Rare kazu Posted April 28, 2015 Author #1136 Share Posted April 28, 2015 San Diego sail a way is very pretty. Had fun on the aft sea view pool. But miss our friends who have left.. And one we left behind after lunch. Captain did a great job of tooting once he was away from the houses (who complain) harder to hear with the helicopters at th naval base flying in and on the aft but he did a mighty great job. got my revised customs form turned in. very happy that it iis more accurate. saw a seal trying to get on a buo - too funny. couldn't get a pic in time but here are a few from the sail a way. San Diego is a very pretty city and I look forward to being there next year to have more time to explore :) some of the sail a way gang that were remaining were having a good time :)
Rare kazu Posted April 28, 2015 Author #1137 Share Posted April 28, 2015 I haven't talked about our yum yum man yet. His name is Roni and he has a fantastic memory. He asks your name once and every night you are greeted by name. He does a great job of tossing mints into the napkin (just mints, not dates). There was no ginger when we arrived on board but after he heard that several of us wanted it he announced with great pleasure it was being loaded for us a few days into the cruise. The great guys gave me a pose today as I was heading out. Roni is second from the right in the red. Great guy and brings a lot of joy to the dining room. :)
Rare kazu Posted April 28, 2015 Author #1138 Share Posted April 28, 2015 (edited) And now back tracking to our wine tasting yesterday which was SO mu h fun. Ingo our Cellar Master is very funny and very, very talented. He is just a joy and makes drinking wine delightful. I tried to get some pics of him in his funny poses, but he moves so fast it is tough! anyone who sails with him is in for a treat. Here are a couple of photos so that you know if you have the pleasure of his company on your cruises. We REALLY appreciated him doing this special wine tasting for us. What a nice touch to our cruise :) Edited April 28, 2015 by kazu
PathfinderEss Posted April 28, 2015 #1139 Share Posted April 28, 2015 (edited) Again wonderful photo Kazu. I think sailing out of SD is one of the pretties, right along with Vancouver. Both beautiful cities. Did you say you did the trolley today, was that the hop on hop off trolley? That is such a nice tour around SD, we've done it many times. Love the pictures of Ingo, he is so much fun, always makes for a wonderful cruise when he is on board. Lots of fun. didn't dare op off though as they were backed up big time. took two hours to see everything and a nice overview for when we are back next year. There seem to be some empty cabins on the sip. So far, I don't hear anyone on the left of me nor have I seen the people that were in the PS? maybe thy are at early dinner? DH heard the "return home" toots from his hotel and he walked down and heard the end of muster. He emailed to say he was on the pier so DD and DS couldn't get out there fast enough. I must say, I too have witnessed some pretty precious incidents since reboarding today. Seems the "me first" attitude is alive and well on the good ship Westerdam. Correction to the numbers i reported last night. The dining room manager told me tonight that 950 people left and 850 joined so we are down 100 passengers. Glad you got to do that, but next time plan on doing it for an all day expierence. I believe there are 11 stop. A very worth while tour. Love 'Old Town' with its great food and if your lucky you might find Khausak Musical Group playing there. Just a really nice way to spend the day and learn more about SD. Rare 1of4 Posted April 28, 2015 #1147 Share Posted April 28, 2015 16 days and hardly a peep heard from the hallway. 6 hours into day 17 and I have lost count how many times people have been yelling out there. At early set dinner we had tables on both sides show up 50 and 55 minutes into the service. I was amazed they were allowed in. I was told earlier tonight by someone who attended the navigation meeting that we are trying to outrun a storm. If we aren't successful then it will be "something to tell your grandchildren about". Mumsysailor - we were waving to you!
Mumsysailor Posted April 28, 2015 #1148 Share Posted April 28, 2015 Gail, sorry to hear about the noise outside your room. I hope it settles down. I think I would be outside shushing and complaining if it were me. I can't sleep unless it's quiet. Our hotel room here in SD has developed a very loud 'engine' sort of noise from somewhere. Can't get the staff to even come listen to it and they have no other spare rooms apparently. [emoji30] looks like it could be a long night. The noise in the dining room was definitely different. We are lucky that at least those round us were with us before. First time I have en our wine steward run off his feet. New passengers, etc. Missing 2of4, Obnxshs & Mumsy already, just to name a few.
