Harmony Connecting Cabins

Recommended Posts

We were looking to book connecting JS's on Harmony, and according to the deck plan, there is exactly one pair of cabins (on the entire ship) that meets this requirement. They are 8642 and 8644, and neither one of them sleeps more than 2 people.

On Oasis and Allure, there are 2 pairs of connecting JS's on decks 6, 7, and 8...for a total of six sets of connecting cabins. And 4 of the 6 sets include at least one cabin that sleeps more than two people.

Does it seem plausible that all but one set of connecting JS's would be eliminated from Harmony? Or is it more likely that the deck plans are not 100% accurate at this point since the ship hasn't been built yet?

I would say that the posted plans are accurate but the only way you will know for sure is to call.

They may have found that very few of the connecting JS's on Oasis/Allure actually got booked as a pair and decided to eliminate them as a lot people booking one cabin do not want to book one that is connecting.

I had went through the deck plans deck by deck and this was not done to just one category. They have actually reduced connecting cabins across the board for all decks by 33.3%, leaving just 2/3 of the previous Oasis Class inventory.

It is very common to read here on CC about guests at the last minute trying to move assigned cabin on a GTY as they get one of the 'dreaded' connecting cabins that affect the interior furnishings and are considered by some to put one at risk for additional noise.

Many families are also booking in a balcony/inside pattern to reduce total cost when needing 2+ staterooms.

Oh, that's interesting. I didn't realize how unpopular the connecting cabins were!

Our traveling party consists of DH, myself, DS(7) and Grandma. DS and Grandma like to be roommates, and DH and I like it too :-) Having said that, we do not expect Grandma to be the caregiver for DS during the trip...we are still the parents, and the connecting cabin situation works really well for us. It's like having a 2 bed/2 bath suite. And if DS needs us in the middle of the night, we are right there.

The bummer with the new plan is that there is no sofa bed in either cabin. That means that Grandma and DS would need to be in twin beds right next to each other. In the previous configuration, DS was on the sofa bed, and we could use the privacy curtain so that Grandma could watch TV, use her iPad, etc. once DS was sleeping.

Oh, well. Guess we will deal with it, or see if some other type of cabin configuration would work better.
