Clarea Posted April 12, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2015 How much of a hold does RCCL put on your CC for 2 people when checking in at the port? I've never seen a hold or pending charge on our CC before the last day of the cruise.

nolesrule Posted April 12, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 12, 2015 (edited) They don't put any hold on cards at check-in. The cruise ships will put a daily authorization on your card equal in amount to that day's on-board spending. Most people don't notice it or never see it because it drops off after a few days, and it also depends on if your credit card site displays authorizations without capture on its pending transaction list (my credit card provider does display them). And for those who say they don't. I've been on 6 cruises in the last 2 years, and I've seen what I described above all 6 cruises. I'll be happy to provide screengrabs as evidence during or after the next cruise. Edited April 12, 2015 by nolesrule
klaner64 Posted April 12, 2015 #7 Share Posted April 12, 2015 How much of a hold does RCCL put on your CC for 2 people when checking in at the port? Do you mean for tips if you don't prepay tips? I have not sailed Rcl but other cruise lines charge you the whole amount of tips per person usually on second day, but it doesn't actually post until your last day. I have never ever seen any other types of holds, but it may vary depending on your credit card company or bank. Just make sure you have enough line of credit for what you plan on spending and you should have no problem.
cb at sea Posted April 12, 2015 #8 Share Posted April 12, 2015 NO "hold" on credit cards. They will put a "hold" on a debit card...so use a credit card!
