Independence Royal Suite Spring Break Review

Recommended Posts

What is the gold card breakfast at Chops? We have only sailed Royal Caribbean three times. Is this a breakfast offered to people that have sailed with with a number of times? Thanks!

I don't know, but it certainly didn't look like it was worth $20,000 extra dollars, lol. I'm guessing it's for people who have a high crown and anchor status ;)

One perk we enjoyed the last time we were on Freedom, could have come in handy on Indy - "Priority Tendering" The line was very long, but moved... When is GC going to build a pier???

An excellent beach day. Good bye Grand Cayman

It is interesting that you did not get priority tendering. We had our first ever GS 2 weeks ago and we got this in GC. With the Roya suite I can not image you did not. I must say that was a huge perk. We have been to GC 4 times before and the tendering is always terrible there.

Sadly, back in FLL backing down the channel

Left the cabin at 6:25am for self departure. Short line getting off the ship, but a larger line for customs. Remember there are only 2 CBP agents until 7am (Thank you Congress)

Taxi to the airport, through TSA Pre and at the gate @ 7:26am. Please stop scaring people into taking 1pm flights!!!!!!!!

Seriously-- you schlepped your own luggage off the ship? The Concierge [serenade] asked us when we wanted to leave the ship. We told him as early as possible. He said come up to the CL and as soon as the ship clears custom he would take us down. We ate the continental breakfast in the CL and waited for clearance. He took DH and I and 2 other couples down in the elevator. [was taking pax in the order they arrived in the lounge] The people doing self disembark were behind us. When we got to customs the agent was standing outside of his cubicle talking to another agent. He took my form and said welcome back. . . . best experience EVER.

edit: Also, you said your cabin was ready at 1pm. I have always read that the CL will escort the Royal suite guest on the ship and you did not have to wait for the suite.

We were 1st off the ship on Liberty- the concierge took us to the medical room where we waited about 5 mins. 1 crew member and 2 passengers (looked a bit naughty) went off and then us. We were the 1st through customs as the others were taken away.

We were in the airport gate 30 mins after leaving our cabin.

We were escorted onto the ship but the cabin wasn't ready until 1.30pm. The doors were locked (internal doors that then were open for the whole cruise and folded away) so even if you got in you wouldn't have been able to get out.

Hey Ken!! Nice to see you were back on the Indy and she did not disappoint!! Wish I had known you were going so you could have given Raj my love!! We are on her next in September and I am so afraid that he won't be there.

We are heading out next week for three weeks on the Jewel. Getting packed now!

Nice seeing your pictures and reading your report!

Oh.....and hell yeah......what I wouldn't give for a piece of the original Mud Pie!!!

Thanks Jane - I'll be looking forward to seeing your B2B2B review. Hope Diego is there to take care of you and John

Great review Ken - thanks. Brought back some memories of the cruise and I even snuck into one of your pictures of the Fun Run. Enjoyed meeting you as well.

My experience on the cruise was very similar. Contrary to what I had read before sailing, the staff was wonderful and very friendly and engaged. The shows were sort of hit and miss but overall they were entertaining. Funny - we were sitting 2 tables over from Tigermom when the waiter was singing to her daughter. Thought that was really cool and he was actually a pretty good singer. My birthday was 2 days later and they sang happy birthday but not the concert that she got.

The one thing I didn't see anyone mention (yet) was the Blue Hole excursion we did in Jamaica. It was really awesome - the best part of the cruise. Fun, adventurous, off the grid and active. The water and the rainforest were beautiful and the jumps from the cliffs and the falls were breathtaking.

Great weather on the cruise and the Caymens and Labadee lived up to advance billing - the zip line at Labadee was super cool as well as super expensive. Capt Marvins snorkeling at Stingray City was really good as well.

Anyhow, enjoyed meeting you and good luck on your next cruise.

My daughter and I are smiling ear to ear! That is such a great memory! We had such a fun time at dinner that night. I wish I had known someone from here on the board was close by our table. It would have been lovely to meet. Totally agree, Fernando did a great job, and all his crew friends had commented to us that he was very talented on the guitar....they were correct!

I have not gotten around to posting photos yet......barely have the girls unpacked....but I will try to get to it.

Our cruise was fantastic......loved RC and will definitely cruise with them again in the future. We are looking at Thanksgiving to the Caribbean on the Anthem. This summer on NCL to Europe.

Belated Happy Birthday........I would have let you borrow the pretty lace dress and heels if you thought it would have gotten you serenaded! LOL!!!
