karinad Posted April 27, 2015 Author #26 Share Posted April 27, 2015 I'm still debating this sailing just because the same cruise minus Lionel Richie is about $300 less a couple weeks before. I know there's always a chance that the price could drop before final payment. We haven't booked yet,but don't usually book Early Saver.
Drazil65 Posted April 27, 2015 #27 Share Posted April 27, 2015 We booked our August cruise in January out of Charleston and they added the live concert in March I think and adjusted the time we leave Bahamas' that night. So this cruise was not a "live" cruise up front, so not everyone who books on these cruises is booking for the live portion. Wish they would have booked a better group on our cruise like "Journey" then we would have considered paying the upcharge to see the concert. Personally I'd go a couple weeks before unless the performer was someone that I really wanted to see or I had to cruise during that week.
ready2cruzagain Posted April 27, 2015 #29 Share Posted April 27, 2015 (edited) We are getting ready to sail on the Ecstacy. We specifically booked this cruise to see Rascal Flatts. VIP tickets were $250 each so they cost more than cruise. But my husband is a huge fan so this is a once in a lifetime thing for him. We are very excited. When the concerts first started weren't they like $20pp and VIP was around $100? I remember JH saying they were for a nominal extra fee. They must be doing well since the price sure has gone up! karinad Posted April 27, 2015 Author #30 Share Posted April 27, 2015 It would be disappointing if we chose that date because of the concert and the concert was cancelled. Yeah, you get your money for the ticket back but it would suck!

Yeah, you get your money for the ticket back but it would suck! And you still paid more for the cruise that won't be refunded.

Yeah, and not a dam thing you could do about it because it's never the cruiselines fault! Unless they got in the Rolling Stones to replace the performer that couldn't make it!:D:D:D
WahooFan Posted April 27, 2015 #33 Share Posted April 27, 2015 I booked our Carnival Pride cruise about 8 months ago for my hubby's 45 birthday. It just so happens that a few weeks back they announced Lionel Ritchie performing on our cruise. Since hubby is a fan, I am suprising him with tickets. I had the cruise booked anyway at a very good price, well in advance of this, so I think it will be a fun addition to his birthday trip. We originally chose this cruise because it goes to Port Canaveral and we can spend one day at Disney! And for us one day at Disney beats no days at Disney so the concert is just an added bonus. mommom of 7 Posted April 27, 2015 #34 Share Posted April 27, 2015 (edited) I wonder how popular this has been? If you dont go you have lost an evening's entertainment that used to be included in the base price. Oh for the good old days where you had professional entertainment every night but one. We were on the Sensation for one of the shows & I can't remember who he was but will say it was a country show & VERY well attended. We were in Nassau & the casino opened didn't check the shops. There was the normal entertainment just not in the main show room. Sail away was well after we hit the hay so can't tell you when we left.:D Char PS We have never seen so many cowboy hat's & boots on ship before. Edited April 27, 2015 by mommom of
DavyJoneses Posted April 27, 2015 #35 Share Posted April 27, 2015 I agree...also, aren't the seats on a first come, first serve basis? $75 each for Lionel Richie to sit at the top of the balcony, if I did not get there early to obtain a seat, to me is a bit much. That would be someone I would go see free at the fair. I agree. That is a big amount to charge if it is on a first come, first serve basis as far as seat selection. I don't believe that poster stated that Lionel Ritchie was ever free on a Carnival ship. I DO understand what the poster meant though. Back in the "Good Ole Days" the cruise lines would fly on professional entertainers. Been a while since Carnival has done that. Princess did our last cruise. They must be doing well since the price sure has gone up! Yep, we paid $100 each for 2 STYX VIP tickets and $20 each for 2 general admission tickets. At those prices it was a great deal for us..but we happen to be big STYX fans. My wife and mom sat in the VIP section and my buddy and I in the general admission way in the back...but way in the back in a Carnival showroom is still a darn good seat! With the new prices, I wouldn't do VIP again though.
