Alright I have to ask... What B2B cruise did you book? That sounds like an incredible deal!!! [emoji50]

...and most important, for what category accommodation?
Royal Caribbean Explorer OTS... 12 April, 11 night to New Zealand, B2B with 24 night transpacific to Seattle on 23 April. ;)

I only do inside cabins, so don't follow prices for other categories, but rates HAVE increased since I booked. :(

And it's not even a last minute deal! There are just TOO many cabins competing for too few cruisers. Edited by teecee60
Which is why it's more amazing that they continue to deploy most of their ships (except a couple in Alaska) in that area during the summer months?
The problem is that there is no where better to put them. There is simply too much inventory for too little demand around the world!

They have saturated one particular area though with most of their ships - eggs and basket come to mind. Many on here complain there are no X ships in the Caribbean during the summer months. Royal do leave some of their ships, even though there is the higher risk of hurricanes during that season. What about the Pacific coast? I know we'd love to try that coastline (previously have only done land vacations). Northern Australia where the weather is still good. Additionally, we had to sail Princess for a New England/Eastern Canada cruise as no X were available in the summer. Yes, I realise the draw is NE in the fall, however I'm sure there are many who would welcome a change (without it being an overnight ).

I think it's the port repetition that also deters some people, combine that with the constant changes to itineraries due to charters, and you have pax looking elsewhere. Look at the changes to the Caribbean itineraries for example - no new ports, just longer in the same places. People will soon tire of those itineraries after visiting the same ports for 2 whole days, cruise after cruise - it's not like most have a multitude of sights to visit/explore. They will be in that bargain basement too.

Additionally, take Equinox for this August: the ship was chartered after the initial sale of cabins and it was all change - 3 disrupted sailings. Same is presently happening for next August too. All of the Equinox sailings have been removed and so people think they may as well leave it to the last minute and grab a bargain - why book early as more and more early bookings are changed/chartered/cancelled.

I'm sure with the way things are progressing, they'd probably have enough charters to dedicate one particular ship in Europe for the peak summer season (not counting the shoulder months). They could then move between Northern Europe and the Med ;). I believe Connie, Silhouette and Equinox all have charters in Europe next year during the summer. And now all the Infinity sailings for Sept/Oct 2016 have also been altered due to it being chartered as a 'floating hotel'. Perhaps X aren't too concerned with the last minute price drops because they're making mega bucks on those charters?

Wow!!! You got an incredible deal!!! Take it and run! [emoji6] I cruise with RCI most often and the best I've done was a 10-night on the Explorer in a Promenade room for $499CAD! I thought that was pretty good, but not quite as good as your find!
