What's this about 'drink upgrades' onboard?

I've read in a few posts about waiting to get on the ship and upgrading your drink package. Is the price different from just buying the package you want before the trip? Should I wait or get a lesser one and upgrade on board?

They are upgrading from having the classic package which many have received as part of the 1,2,3, go promotions. You can upgrade to the premium package for about $8 per day or so. This allows you to buy just about any drink on the ship.

I do not think there is a difference in price to upgrade onboard. Many people wait to use onboard credit (OBC) rather than paying in advance. The cost is $10.00 plus 18% gratuity ($11.80) per day.

No, the price to upgrade the package is $10 + 18% gratuity per person per day. So that makes the charge $11.80 per day per person... It's worth it, tho!
