bradboy Posted April 24, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2015 Last year I took my MIL on a cruise with our family. It was her 1st with CCL. I used my email for her contact. Today "she" received an email regarding a sale on the Journey cruises. Excited to see the discount I went to book it. It will not let me get the discount since she isn't traveling and they have not chose me for the discount. It's a $300 difference plus a 100 OBC. So, any suggestions on getting this discount on an 11 nt cruise. How do the choose to give these discounts to? Thanks for your feedback!

bradboy Posted April 24, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted April 24, 2015 Didn't think so :( it's so aggravating to think I'm going to spend several hundred dollars more
ScottsSweetie Posted April 24, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 24, 2015 Lots of people have reported getting these for only 1 person in their family at their own address. If that person cannot sail, the discount cannot be used. :(

momonthego17 Posted April 24, 2015 #7 Share Posted April 24, 2015 (edited) My mom got the same email, sent to my email since I'm the contact for the cabins. I was getting excited about a back to back 21 day cruise when I saw that my mom had to be sailing as well. At that time she will be in San Diego. Doesn't Carnival want money regardless who is cruising? Maybe it's something about a certain demographic (senior citizen) that Carnival is selling to. Rare pirate4me2 Posted April 24, 2015 #8 Share Posted April 24, 2015 I wish I would get one of these. Heck, I'd be happy with any offer from Carnival!

AmberTeka Posted April 24, 2015 #13 Share Posted April 24, 2015 If your Mother in Law is coming with you, You can book the cruise in her name and then pay for it with your credit card. If you are sharing a cabin. I think. Get the opinion of the experts on this board.
AmberTeka Posted April 24, 2015 #14 Share Posted April 24, 2015 My daughter received one. she has taken one cruise on Carnival and one cruise on Princess. Both of which I paid for with my CC. but it is a moot point. My husband does not fly so as it is not a return to same port, we cannot go. she just found out she will have a child in December. Surprise. So she is not feeling well as well as adjusting to a major shock for us all. We will love the little rascal when it arrives.......but goodness. What a game changer. cessnabmw Posted April 24, 2015 #18 Share Posted April 24, 2015 We went on out first cruise last year. My wife got the email. We have actually been looking at this exact cruise for months... The price for 4 of was $3800 in Jan and now down to $2700. Says valid until June 30th. Book now or wait? http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2200701
Lovetwocruz2009 Posted April 24, 2015 #19 Share Posted April 24, 2015 I received the email offer too. I am 45yrs old. I have been pricing the 14 day Glory cruise in October and the 10 day Dream cruises. I think Carnival tracked my whereabouts on their website. I have done several mock bookings but had not pulled the trigger.
sdriver Posted April 25, 2015 #20 Share Posted April 25, 2015 I received it. Cruised 3 times in 6 months. I'm 27 years old!
bradboy Posted April 25, 2015 Author #21 Share Posted April 25, 2015 She's a senior too I've also did some mock bookings to figure out the deposit. Unfortunately she's not going with us. I hate saying goodness, that $$$ could go a long way and not be able to even sweet talk our way with CcL. Boo hoo! Gonna have me a pity party! Cessnabmw- book it! Cove balcony has gone from 2700 a few weeks ago to 2368 last week now this special at 2068.97 w/100 OBC - that's what our triple occupancy was I don't even think an ES would beat it
