We just ate in La Cucina on the Pearl tonight. My son ordered the Pizza. He had 2 pieces and then wanted to go to Kids Club. He's old enough to check himself in. I asked if we could take the rest of the pizza back to the cabin so he could eat it after kids club tonight. They would not allow us to bring the rest of the pizza back to cabin. Such a waste of perfectly good food that would have been demolished by a growing 11 y/o boy at 10:30pm!

It is a waste of good food, but my guess and I could be 100% wrong, after the newness of the room service charges wears off, some of this not allowing food to be taken out of the restaurants might wear off as well. This is one time i think everyone should write to headquarters and do some serious griping.

I do not believe in going to the buffet and smuggling food, that to me is the same as sneaking booze on. But if you have actually paid for the food, like in a specialty dining room it should be yours to do what you want with.

if people stop tipping in the restaurants that are not allowing this, perhaps they will change their policies...however at this point, and i'm platinum, i don't feel any more loyalty to NCL....too much is happening that is really not in the interest of the consumer (is it ever being that NCL is a money making company?); however, Princess, Royal and Celebrity will be delighted to take my money too.

The tipping has nothing to do with this: remember the specialty dining rooms have a 18% auto tip now. As for other lines, don't kid yourself, it this works for NCL other lines will jump on board. Right now, it is too new to know how all this will turn out.

True, Monte. Sailed just under 4 weeks ago, both Platinum. One bag of laundry, one half box of Godiva chocolates but 2 dinners at LeBistro.

We also just returned from a cruise about 2 weeks ago: did you actually ask about the laundry situation? I think you are wrong. Yes, you only had one letter in your cabin, but you could still send out 2 bags. We did it, as well as many others we knew on the ship that were platinum. We checked with our cabin steward about this. We needed laundry bags so asked him for one, he said, right away, oh you will need at least 2, you both get a free bag. I would say, it isn't make very clear and yes, there was only 1 box of chocolates. That has been our experience for about a year.

But I paid for my food from the buffet in the cruise fare, it shouldn't matter to NCL where I consume any of the food.

I always prefer getting breakfast from the buffet and taking back to the room - hope this is the still the case when we cruise in January.

Not being able to take left over's from the Restaurants is not a huge concern to me as there is always food available.

Thanks

All reports coming back from passengers, is that you can still take food out of the buffet.

You obviously don't understand that because he had a butler his experience was different than what every other pax will experience

That is an important little tidbit of info

And what does FCOL mean anyway

I would assume For Crying Out Loud.

And the waiter wouldn't necessarily know they were in a suite. I don't remember sharing that when we went to dinner, until they needed the card at the end.

When you arrive at the dining room they ask for your card or room number when you ask for a table - unless of course someone got there before you that was in another room.

It really could be a safety issue. Have you noticed how the stateroom mini-refrigerators only chill your drinks, not really refrigerate them? It would be interesting to take a thermometer along to see how cold these chillers keep contents.

Exactly !!!!!!! On the other hand, I know that more times than not, I've gotten chicken wings (my favorite) that were constantly barely room temp at best. I had to constantly ask for freshly cooked wings on most of NCL ships. That's just me, I like my wings hot and hot !!!!!!

I now have this mental picture of people storming the buffet to liberate the cookies - 14 July on NCL ships could be entertaining...

Or in my case---TOMORROW COULD BE ENTERTAINING :)

Hi Nita! I've seen several reports (from people who had been on the Jewel) that they've been limited to one bag per stateroom-which made me do some repacking since I'm on the Jewel tomorrow. :) (I know I could probably have a fit onboard and get the 2nd bag if it happens to us, but sometimes, I'd rather be happy than right)

Any food venue that asks for your key card before you enter knows exactly what type of cabin you have

The poster with the butler got his stuff sent to his cabin because he had an upscale accommodation imho

We all pay different prices for different cabin levels and while we are all entitled to enjoy the majority of the ship....haven...vibe...spa pass.... Not withstanding

The little extra this poster got most definitely had to do with his having a butler cabin and paying $$$$$

Think logically folks......they went out of their way for him

And the info about having a butler should have been mentioned promptly......as it made a difference

I don't know if it's actual policy or written somewhere. I can tell you that we regularly got 2 drinks at a time in Captain Cooks, Dazzles, and several other bars around the ship. We didn't know we could get 2 drinks with each card until the second day when the bar staff would tell me they only need 1 UBP card for our 2 drinks (mine and my wife's).

True, it may not be the majority experience, but it was my experience. We had the UDP, so we only ate in the specialty restaurants or our cabin (breakfast). I didn't see the need to mention the butler until I was asked about the room service charge. I mentioned it then because I could see where someone may be charged, so I wanted to be clear...but I don't consider having a leftover dessert sent to your room to be the same thing as room service. That's just me, they are not equal in my mind. If I had been in a regular cabin and charged the fee, I would have disputed it at guest services.

This thread is not about charges.....this thread is about getting food from a restaurant to your room.

I'm telling people about our experience this past weekend. If you get a prick bartender who says '1 drink per card'...that's not on me. I can only tell you that we were only asked for a single card per 2 drinks. The bartenders said that we can have 2 drinks per card.

Yes it was your experience as you had a butler suite

They weren't about to piss you off over a piece of cake

It's not a double standard by any means it's just a benefit you got for paying for high end accomodations

I do have a few points to make:

1. You are patently wrong about "every other pax". There are 15 suites that include a butler on the Sky.

2. I won't let you invalidate my experience or the info I shared, trying to help. It is relevant, whether you see that or not.

3. This thread is not about room service fees. That topic is elsewhere. This topic is about GETTING FOOD FROM A RESTAURANT, TO YOUR ROOM. I stated, and it is fact, that I got a dessert sent to my room from Cagney's. No amount of nitpicking you choose to perform will change that.

4. The world is bigger than you. That you don't see value in something, doesn't mean it lacks value. The speed limit on a rural road in Texas may be irrelevant to you, but it is still quite relevant to the people that drive on it. Someone else may have read this thread, and was helped by what I wrote.

I started this thread as a lark and was just having fun (notice the ;) in the subject line)

But as often happens on CC, it's starting to turn ugly LOL

It's nothing serious, only a cookie (or other food, it's not like we'll starve onboard)-NOW WHEN I CAN'T BRING MY HOTDOG BACK TO THE CABIN, THEN NCL & I WILL HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM lol

That is reasonable, I do see what you are saying. Maybe it was preferential treatment, I don't know. They do ask for your room number at the hostess stand.

If I were not in a suite, I would still dispute any charge for a product I asked to carry out of a restaurant (but they required to have delivered).

Kingofwylietx ----Those who are disputing are totally wrong in their assumptions.

It is time to stop some of the silly arguments and mis information on this thread.

They don't always ask for your room number. It is done rather randomly.

On my last three NCL cruises, I have asked for juice and a sweet roll for DW and they have been presented to me without question. I asked for one roll and received three on a plate covered with saran wrap.

This service was not done because of the type of cabin I booked. If it is any concern to some of you, I was in an inside cabin and my last cruise ended four weeks ago.

Cut out the nonsense and try to keep these threads on topic and civil.

Monte --- Enjoy your cruise !!!!! If you need two bags of laundry done, mark them Platinum FREE and you shouldn't have any problem. The Latitudes rep onboard will take care of it if you have a problem.

As far as the HOT DOG problem, That is serious stuff, because I know you will go into withdrawals if you have to go three hours without a HOT DOG !!!!

Speaking of cakes, on our last Princess cruise our granddaughter attended a cake decorating activity. The cake was then served at dinner. But when we started to leave with the leftovers, we were stopped and told that room service would have to take it there. Silly, IMNSHO.

Thank you, Swedish Weave. It's almost a pain to be helpful sometimes, people want to pick apart whatever you write.

In other news:

I wish I had known about the hotdog thing last week. I love hotdogs, especially with relish or sauerkraut. I would have knocked out a bunch of them.

Some haunt these boards looking for arguments. It didn't used to be that way, but things have changed.

I don't know if the famous HOT DOG thread is still in history, but we had a lot of fun with that, and Monte was the king !!!!!
