jtwanabe Posted May 14, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2015 I'm thinking of getting one but I'm curious how much do they cost and did you feel you got your money's worth. Thanks, JT:)
mrobstad Posted May 14, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 14, 2015 On RCCL-NCL, they run about $175. Cheaper on land, but I now spoil myself on cruises, especially if I have an OBC.
jtwanabe Posted May 14, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted May 14, 2015 That's pretty steep. How long do they last?
jkneern Posted May 14, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 14, 2015 They do run specials on port days but still very $$$. To me, not worth it. Depending on the ports you stop at, you can find some on the beaches for $50 hr or less.
NoDayButToday Posted May 14, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2015 We paid around $400 (with tip) for a couples massage on our honeymoon cruise. It was a great massage, but we decided it wasn't worth the money we paid for it and that it was an indulgence we did because of the occasion but won't be doing on future cruises together. Saltz Posted May 14, 2015 #6 Share Posted May 14, 2015 I had the BEST on the beach massage in Cozumel. And it was only $20 for an hour and I tipped $10. It was amazing!! I wish I could have smuggled that massage woman home in my luggage. Lol
Topo Gigio Posted May 14, 2015 #7 Share Posted May 14, 2015 You can get good ones in Cozumel. I pay $35 an hour. It says $55, but me living in the Caribbean know how to deal;)

Thanks, JT:) Range from low of $55 to $175, possibly more for different options I have had hot stone with oils and deep tissue Both are great exfoliations and oxidation/nurshments are also gootd. kdinkus1 Posted May 14, 2015 #9 Share Posted May 14, 2015 I would say it depends on what you want to spend your money on and how much you are willing (and can afford) to pay. Some people will spend hundreds of dollars on alcohol - others on excursions or art. My thoughts? If this is something you truly would like to try, then go for it! Otherwise you may walk off the ship disappointed. At least then you will have an idea whether it was worth the money instead of making your decision based on our replies. :D
Cruisin 4 Ever Posted May 14, 2015 #10 Share Posted May 14, 2015 I've had a massage twice on Carnival. They are good massages, but nothing extraordinary. The first time was better, the second time the massage itself was only about 40 minutes and the massage therapist spent the last 20 minutes trying to sell all of their products to me. I was quite annoyed since with tip (which is added automatically at 15%) it came to almost $175.

winddawn Posted May 14, 2015 #12 Share Posted May 14, 2015 I'm thinking of getting one but I'm curious how much do they cost and did you feel you got your money's worth. Thanks, JT:) You will pay more on board than on land. I did Carnival's hand and foot massage a few cruises ago. It was one of their advertised specials where they leave the flyer in your cabin. The massage didn't last near as long as it was advertised for. I guess they count the time they spend fetching towels and supplies and time spent trying to sell you products in the advertised massage time. I did not think it was worth the price paid and the massage was not that good IMO.
NCTribeFan Posted May 14, 2015 #13 Share Posted May 14, 2015 No one can decide what anything might be "worth" to you. I sometimes will do one of the "port day" specials later in the cruise. I like the facial/massage combo. Last time I had one, it was $95 I think. I think I'll just stick to having a facial, if I think it's a good deal and "worth" my time and money on any particular sailing. Sometimes, I just like to have one on the ship. I'm more apt to pamper myself while I'm on vacation. And, to be honest, I get more value from the time spent in the spa than if I were spending that time in the casino! ;) I got a pedicure onboard on my 2nd cruise (my only RCI sailing) and it was a total waste of money. Poorly done and extremely over-priced. Now I pack 2 nights before I head to the port and have my nails done the day before.
