WIFI - terminal building St Peterburg

Recommended Posts

Hello...

We will be in SPB in June for 2 days but I may not get off the ship as have been to this city before.

Does anyway know if there is wifi or a cafe in the terminal building I could use without having to clear immigration?

Am sure there is something in place for crew, as they always know where to find good free wifi...

I'm not an Internet junkie, just need to be able to download a few emails and keep in touch..

Thanks..

Right. You must first go through immigration before you can enter the terminal. If you have a Russian visa, no problem. If you don't have a visa, no dice.

hmmm At some ports we are able to catch the wifi from an outside deck or our balcony on the ship. Wonder if on the Baltic cruise ports like St. P. if this is a possibility. Anyone know?

Obviously it all depends on the port and strength of the outside wifi source. And is not always possible. But...

I find this an interesting post, in that the OP is thinking of not getting off the ship. I know it's often said on this site (correctly I believe) that you aren't allowed to board the ship in the first place if you don't have a visa for some countries, because by being docked you are effectively 'in' the country. Is that not the case for Russia then?

St Petersberg is different in that all cruisers getting off the ship have to go through Russian immigration in the terminal building-most other ports it's a simple walk off the ship with no immigration checks

so in this case you could stay on the ship if you had no visa or taking part in an organised tour[ship or private]

mind you that would be a shame as there is so much to see in St Petersburg even for a second time visitor
