Just off the Grandeur, a Solid Cruise

Recommended Posts

We arrived at 12:15 and was on the ship in 15 minutes, a very easy embarkation.

It is a small ship, not alot of bells and whistles but we had a very relaxing vacation. Was able to get a chair around 9:30am every easily every day.

The food other than the 1st night was solid, always found something we liked. Other than 1st day and a few breakfasts did not eat in Windjammer. They had a mexican BBQ one day and paella and fajitas by the pool which were solid. The Park Cafe was a nice treat, some nice variety and very enjoyable roast beef

Paul was a good stateroom attendant, had 2 great waiter in Jim and Gener and an excellent bar server in the dining room in Debbie.

One of us had the premium package and the bartenders especially Noel by the pol were quick and efficient. One thing is if you are on 2nd deck waiters are hit or miss so I did walk to the bar more often than not.

Only saw the Cruise Director a few time but Gizzy and Andre who ran all the fun activities were excellent and had tons of energy. Real great guys.

Casino was small and mostly empty, no poker but Andrew and Alex the dealers were great to interact with.

The pool side band played a nice variety of songs and group in Centrum were pretty good.

The comedian Mark was excellent in both shows, a must see.

The only real negatives were their new show All Access was just awful, poorly planned and put together. There was a Motown band that were fine but then another group Soul something were glorified Karaoke.

We went to Coco Reef and Horseshoe on the 2 days in Bermuda as the 1st day we got there too late to do anything relevant on a Sunday

Just a solid cruise!

Big question for a lot of people lately is whether or not the arial shows have started back up. Also, do you recall which movies were being shown?

Glad to hear you had a solid cruise. Two weeks away for us.

We loved Noel at the pool bar! He made you feel comfortable from Day1 and knew your name by that evening, also knew your favorite drink and went out of his way to please. Really hope he will be onboard when we cruise again in December. Also, Francis in the Concierge Lounge is always top notch! he makes you feel like you are coming back home and he greets us with a big smile and hug. We love sailing on the Grandeur!

Was Noel from Jamaica and had a friend named Dane? These two, if the same, were on a recent cruise of ours. Would love to sea them on June 19!!!

Sorry to hear that the aerial show was not part of the cruise experience on recent cruise. We really enjoyed the show that we saw from different levels of the centrum. Hope they bring it back.

Dvond,

Thanks for the review! We're getting ready to sail on a back to back in a few weeks. This will be my 7th time on the Grandeur, love this ship! :):)

Do you happen to know who the Diamond Lounge attendant is? We had Ruth last year and she was great.

Also, do you remember who the captain was? Hoping its Trond Holm.

Thanks!

Mitch Merrucci is usually a very visible CD and we have had great cruises with him on board. He always has a great staff working with him.....so that all the activities are handled well.

Thank you for letting me know. It's really not going to make a difference in our cruise, we just enjoy being on a ship :)

The Captain on now is Capt. Espen Been. He started rotation on 4/10/15, I think they are on for 10 weeks. The other Capt. is Trond Holm. There is a post listing all the Captains for RCCL that is where I found the information. Enjoy your cruise. We like the Grandeur too.
