su-arizona Posted August 31, 2015 #51 Share Posted August 31, 2015 I've spent many hours in various Oceania laundry rooms. It's a great way to meet fellow cruisers, since the laundry rooms are almost always crowded; one of the most popular places on any O ship... But on a Windstar cruise last year, they offered laundry service for a flat fee for the entire cruise. And I have to say, it was a wonderful luxury to have clean, pressed/folded clothes delivered back to our cabin every day. Oceania, are you listening? Much as I enjoy being the first to buy my tokens, I would happily give up the convivial laundry room in favor of paying for the service!
Mura Posted August 31, 2015 #52 Share Posted August 31, 2015 Well, I'm sure you know that O does offer a fee-based laundry service ... although I've never seen a flat-fee for the entire cruise. But I have seen "special" rates on some cruises -- like 20 pieces for $20. LOL, I first wrote 20 pieces for $210 ... Mura
su-arizona Posted September 2, 2015 #53 Share Posted September 2, 2015 Should have been clearer...not a 'per piece' rate, but a flat rate per cabin for the length of the cruise...Can't find my Windstar cruise docs at the moment, but I think it was ~$200 for a 10 day Star Pride cruise...pretty reasonable price. Mura Posted September 2, 2015 #54 Share Posted September 2, 2015 No, you were clear. I did say in my response that I'd never seen a flat-rate for the length of the cruise on O. For me, I would just use the service when I need it -- and I definitely wouldn't need it every day. If enough people feel the way I do (and I have no idea how many that might be!), then I would think O has no need to change its policies. What might be more popular is regularly charging the 20 piece for $20 (sometimes it's a little higher) rather than the fairly high "per piece" charge. But then I'm one who does not mind doing my own laundry once or twice on a cruise. Mura
sitraveler Posted September 2, 2015 #55 Share Posted September 2, 2015 Current price for 20 piece wash and fold is $24.99. Only available when offered.
Mura Posted September 2, 2015 #56 Share Posted September 2, 2015 I think it was a couple of years ago where we paid $20. On our last cruise it was a little more than that but I think less than $24.99. But you've been on board more recently than we have so I take your word for it, Marsha/Lou. I'm not surprised prices have gone up! Mura
