luxury-lizard Posted June 2, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 2, 2015 Hi all, We booked a GTY cabin and received our luggage tags before the cabin was assigned. Now that I know the cabin number should I try and overwrite the tags or will they do this upon check-in ensuring the luggage does not go astray. BTW - we booked a V2 GTY (as that was all that was available at the time) - now have cabin 817 - seems fine to me.
curly wurly Posted June 2, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 2, 2015 Yes, just cross out the GTY and write your confirmed suite number on the tag. Don't worry your luggage will find you. I have had a GTY tag on embarkation as I did not have an assignment until boarding.
Emperor Norton Posted June 20, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 20, 2015 I was told specifically to not write over the GTY on the tags and leave them be even though my cabin was assigned pre-cruise. Somehow the bags wound up where they were supposed to.
markham Posted June 21, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 21, 2015 No one needs to tell me what to do when I have no cabin number on the baggage label, the label says GTY and I have been given a cabin number via the website 2 weeks before the cruise. Since I want my luggage to get to my cabin as fast as anyone else's luggage gets to theirs, I want my label to BE like everyone else's. So I do what curly wurly says: cross out GTY and write in the cabin number. This is an example of common sense and "less is more"- as in no need for anyone on the pier to wonder what to do with an unmarked label. Happy sailing! LEESRE Posted June 21, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 21, 2015 Yes we always stick a white label over the GTY and write our suite number on it with a black marker. We have never been told not to do this.
wripro Posted June 21, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 21, 2015 This is a no brainer. Of course, you write in your suite number.
Mr Luxury Posted June 22, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 22, 2015 I go a step further and never get on a ship with a guarantee suite,I always book a particular suite and never have to worry.
