Dawn for a 13 year old

Going to Bermuda but has anyone with a 13 or 14 year old traveled on the Dawn? Is there enough for him to do in the clubs for the kids. I wanted the breakaway but I refuse to pay $9600.00 for the Aft Penthouse suite. I can pay $7600.00 for the Owner's suite with two balconies but not sure if the Dawn will keep him occupied at nights. Went on the Dream I never saw him always doing something just afraid at night that he will be bored.

Have you considered a Haven Spa suite for you and your husband and then a couple of balconies for the others on the Breakaway? The Haven spa suites are fantastic. Or alternatively a penthouse?

This is JMO, but the Breakaway is a drastically better ship for 13 - 14 year olds than the Dawn, which, IMO is more suited to adults and/or young children that are too little for the watersides on Breakaway. Breakaway is also drastically better for Haven guests.

I was looking for similar information. DD is 13 and I'm wondering what there is for her to do on-board. She liked the kids club last time we went, but she was younger. I'm a bit nervous about her wandering around the ship alone.

My oldest was 14 on our first NCL cruise, on the Jewel. She went to the teen club that first night (she was very apprehensive) , and after that, we saw her for some meals only. Our next cruise was on the Breakaway, and my then 15 and 17 year olds had a blast, too. The teen club made the cruise for them, not the slides and ropes course.

Age 13 and up will have access to Entourage teens' club, not the Splash Academy kids' club. Don't know what the teen club is like on the Dawn. My son was 10 when we went on Norwegian Dawn; he enjoyed it including all the shows and never even went to the kids' club. However, we are doing Getaway with him next March when he will be 13.

I feel the same way, my DD just turned 13 yesterday and I'm sure she will like the teen club, but I don't want her wandering alone on the ship either. This is our first cruise. I see that you are sailing in July. I'm wondering if it'll be the same week? We head out on July 10th

Our DD was that age when we went to Bermuda on the Dawn (in one of the OS - which one are you in BTW?). Our kids tend to have hit or miss times at the clubs. We did things everyday while in Bermuda but on the ship she signed up for the club but never really went. She hung out with us most of the time. She likes to read so she would do that and we would sit under the tent at Bimini Bar. She also liked to sit on the side balcony early in the morning before we got up.

My teens were rarely alone - always in a group. They went to the club the first night, to meet kids. They did go to the club after that, but spent more time just with other teens (swimming, sports court, eating...).

I'm the week before you, unfortunately.

When DD was younger I didn't mind plopping her at the Kids Club because she loved it. This cruise has been rescheduled twice, so now she's 13. Unfortunately, I didn't plan to have her bring a friend or anyone with her. It's much easier if you have 2 kids to send them off together than it is to send one child off. She's friendly so I'm hoping she meets some other kids when we get on that I can trust her with and she can hang out with them when she doesn't want to come with us. The difficult part is if we want to go to the Stardust Lounge to listen to a band and she's not really old enough to come with us.

That's what I'm hoping for..that she meets some kids to hang with. I don't want her to just hang with the "old people". LOL

Too bad you're on the week before us, would have been nice to know another 13 yo girl will be there. I'm sure there will be plenty. This is our first cruise and it's in July so I know kids are on vacation, I just don't know how many usually go on a cruise.

My DD sometime starts out kind of shy, but she warms up pretty quickly. I just want her to have fun and enjoy the cruise.
