Mykonos - is this too much?

I will be in port for a long day (8am - 11pm) in August and have hoped to visit Delos (10am tour that will end at 1:30), and then try to get to a beach (Elia or Agrari but am open to suggestions) and then spend some time walking around Mykonos town. Is this too ambitious? I know I will be in port for a long time but don't want to be rushing from place to place with no time to really enjoy anything. Any opinions or advice?

On a side note - is it true that taxi's to the beach are hard to come by so bus would be the best way to get there and back?

We think your plan is reasonably given your long port day. As to getting to the beach, we usually use the local buses for that, but our beach of choice is Paradise (and sometimes Super Paradise). With such a late departure you will have plenty of time to explore Mykonos Town after the beach. We also recommend stopping for a drink/snack at one of the cafes located on the town harbor.

Seems fine to me. We have done something similar, and other than being hot and tired had no problem at all.

Yes definately go to Paradise or Super Paradise it's really worth visiting it!By the time you have so many hours there I believe you will have time to follow your program

I'll be making this stop on next cruise and the beach IS my agenda. :D

 

Can someone give me some details on the bus? Where to get it? How much? How often do they run?

Last week we were there. The Independently run boats to Delos were on the dockside filling up by 9.30 for 10.00 am departure.

What's the easiest way to get to paradise beach?

 

If you walk around the quay to the bus station, you will find a small minivan which runs every half hour to Paradise Beach. This minivan is run by the resort and very cheap. It doesn't start until about 10.00 though. It is a bit hectic around the coach station but if you ask, they will tell you where this minivan waits.

I'm not sure Paradise is the beach for us. We prefer quiet but wish to rent loungers and purchase drinks and lunch. Does anyone have a favorite " boring" beach?
