Looks like the Koningsdam will take over the itineraries of the Rotterdam after 2016 summer season. Koningsdam will however be Amsterdam based :(.

So have taken one of the last opportunities and will be on the Rotterdam in June 2016 for one of it's last Norway trips.

July 4th Ms Rotterdam VI will visit her homeport for the 100th time.

Several official events and celebrations will take place, including a visit of HRH Princess Margriet who christened Ms Rotterdam VI in 1997.

Koningsdam will only be in Europe for the inaugural season, after which she will cross the Atlantic to the Caribean in the fall and will not have Amsterdam as a permanent homeport (for now).

Rotterdam will remain the only ship with (Rotterdam as) a home port in Holland.

We are docked today with the lovely Rotterdam in Areslund Norway. I must admit that when returning to our ship this morning (Celebrity Eclipse), I did start veering towards the Rotterdam. We've been on her 3 times most recently a round rip out of Rotterdam to the Canary Islands, Funchal, etc. She is an elegant ship.

If you'r a fan of HAL and its history, you MUST sail from Rotterdam on a Dam ship. It's beyond words how the Dutch celebrate those sailaways, and bonus you get to walk through the gorgeous Rotterdam V and see the old headquarters where millions of immigrants left for America.

It's special.

Plus Rotterdam's a great city with the world's best modern architecture.
