Legalchick Posted June 20, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2015 Okay, I'm really excited about my first cruise to Alaska. I booked fairly last minute and the land tours prior to the cruise are all booked up. I'm flying in to Anchorage the day before and think I'll take the train down to Whittier to the port. I'd really like to take the glacier cruise around Prince William Sound prior to leaving on the Grand Princess. Here's the question though. What do I do with my luggage while I'm on the PWS boat? Apparently in Whittier there is no luggage storage at the train station and no porters like in other ports so I can't just drop off my luggage to Princess before going around PWS and check in later. Should I go ahead and check in at Princess, leave the ship and go on the PWS trip then come back to Princess, drag my luggage with me on the PWS boat or just forget it take the motor coach that Princess offers from Anchorage to Whittier and not do PWS? Cessnock Posted June 20, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2015 Call the PWS tour people. They can possibly arrange something for you.
caribill Posted June 20, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 20, 2015 You did not indicate what time your tour will start. If it is after 10 AM, you should be able to check your luggage with Princess and after your tour check-in for the cruise.
cherylandtk Posted June 20, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 20, 2015 The train from Anchorage arrives in Whittier at 12:45. You can drop your luggage with the ship at that time, presuming it will leave you enough time for a PWS tour before you need to be onboard. Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted June 21, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 21, 2015 Luggage drop-off becomes available when the train arrives; they base their schedule on the train. Drop off your luggage, check in, and then go on your tour.
