Navigator Verandah

I'm planning on adding a 4 day cruise on the Disney Dream to our annual WDW trip. We've been on 2 previous Disney cruises - both in a regular verandah room. I'm looking at a special offer for a "Navigator Verandah". I've never understood exactly what this means. What, exactly, is a "Navigator Verandah?" Could someone explain? Thanks.

A true Navigator's verandah is on the Magic and Wonder. They are enclosed verandahs with a large, open porthole, and built in bench seats. They were designed so as to fit into the superstructure of the classic ships. I believe the term "Navigator's" was because of the design theming (maps and compasses)

On the Fantasy & Dream, however, what they call a Navigator's verandah, is what is called "partially obstructed" on most other cruiselines. Part of the view is blocked.

The Magic and Wonder also have minimally obstructed verandahs that are classified as Navigator's verandahs. These were originally cat 5 and 6, but due to the obstruction were re-categorized as cat 7. I have stayed in one of these cabins--the obstruction was there if you looked for it, but was so minimal that I may not have even noticed it had I not been aware of the reason for the category designation I would highly recommend these cabins if they otherwise meet your needs. They sleep only 3 people.
