Rare Bimmer09 Posted July 8, 2015 #83 Share Posted July 8, 2015 (edited) I just stumbled upon this excellent review this morning. Great photos-how are you putting the captions on? Which camera are you using? Thanks for the Chihuly Garden photos- I haven't been in Seattle in 15 years and didn't even know the garden existed. Great job-am looking forward to more! Club Disney Chandler Posted July 8, 2015 #85 Share Posted July 8, 2015 Celebrity needs to pay you for doing PR for them! We can't do an Alaska cruise until 2018 but I'm so ready to book a Celebrity one, excellent review!
Barwick Cruiser Posted July 8, 2015 #86 Share Posted July 8, 2015 I'm also enjoying this review very much, especially the great pics which make everything seem to come alive! We are on the Solstice for the final leg in September so it's getting me even more excited!! Question about Bistro on Five: do you know whether they have the expanded menu with daily features and more entrees besides the standard crepes? I know they rolled the menu out on the Summit this Spring but wasn't sure if all the ships, and in particular Solstice, had it yet. Keep up the great work...definitely one of the best reviews I've seen! Cathy

Nothing special used to add the text to the photos. I justed used the "Preview" app on my Macbook. It was the fastest way to enter the text (was going to use Gimp, but this was easier). Open photo in preview, click Tools > Annotate > Text Camera is the Sony DSC-HX400V If you're interested in checking out all my Chihuly Photos (43 in total) see this link https://flic.kr/s/aHskeYMVQF

Cathy Sorry not sure about the new Bistro on Five menu, I did have plans to eat there day 1, but since we were able to board so early and no one was on the ship we ended up at the buffet. ST1TCH Posted July 8, 2015 #93 Share Posted July 8, 2015 (edited) Love all your photos! We were on this same cruise with you. Hope you don't mind but I've saved off your pictures to my computer as you got much better pictures of features around the ship than we did. I don't suppose you have larger versions available online somewhere? Edited July 8, 2015 by ST1TCH

misha1 Posted July 8, 2015 #96 Share Posted July 8, 2015 (edited) And now, it is my turn to say...your photo review is superb! Exactly what I look for when reading reviews. I am a visual person and your pictures truly speak a thousand words...Oh, and did I mention, I am a foodie?...so your food porn was simply salivating Dahlink! I do have a question regarding your choice of cabins...our DF are joining us on Solstice for this same cruise (sadly, not until Sept of '16) and they have chosen a deck 6 hump cabin. Did the presence of the Tenders bother you at all? Did they impede your enjoyment of the balcony and your overall view of the scenery? Your photos inspire me to do a better job of documenting the interior of the ship...seems I stop at the Sunset bar or martini bar and all plans of photo shoots go out the window. Such is the cruising life...Happy Sails and Cheers! Julie Edited July 8, 2015 by misha1
loupana Posted July 8, 2015 Author #97 Share Posted July 8, 2015 We leave Ketchikan... Shortly after leaving Ketchikan we are passing Radiance of the Seas which left just before us Then later Radiance of the Seas passes us, here is a short clip time lapse clip. loupana Posted July 8, 2015 Author #98 Share Posted July 8, 2015 Whale watching time...you can barely see a humpback in this photo Little better photo of mother humpback and baby side by side Shortly after I took this photo the baby humpback fully breached the water and turned slightly and splashed back down. Just off the side of the ship from my balcony, it was awesome but no photo or video. I was quite upset the Gopro wasn't filming off the balcony when this happened... loupana Posted July 8, 2015 Author #99 Share Posted July 8, 2015 June 29th, 2015 Day 4 This morning we traveled into Tracy Arm Fjord, wet and raining. We started with Room service but had to eat in the room because of the weather...
loupana Posted July 8, 2015 Author #100 Share Posted July 8, 2015 I was able to get the GoPro setup for a bit when rain calmed down, here is a time lapse of us heading back out of Tracy Arm, we didn't get close to the glacier because of all the icebergs. The boat you see in the video pulling up next to Solstice was picking up passengers for the Excursion that takes you up close and personal to the glacier and falls, and drops you back off on the ship in Juneau. I think this excursion is a must do if I ever go back... here is a direct link to the youtube video as well
