Rare Coral Posted April 9, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 9, 2004 Carnival's Paradise used to be non-smoking but it either has been or will be changed to allow smoking. Renaissance also used to be non-smoking but they stopped sailing after 9-11. Sorry. If it helps any, I hate smoking and have only had problems in the casino on Princess ships. bcs819 Posted April 9, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 9, 2004 i am so disappointed that this trend didn't catch on with the Carnival Paradise. I get migraines from secondhand smoke and have researched this a bit, no one else is doing it right now... KAJOKG Posted April 9, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 9, 2004 I agree with Coral. I have asthma and second hand smoke is a real problem for me. I find no problems around Princess ships except in the casinos. HAL casinos apparently have a much better ventilation system and the smoke in their casinos is much less bothersome than on Princess. Other than the casinos, though, I have no problems aboard Princess. And I, too, have heard that the no smoking Paradise didn't work for Carnival and they are discontinuing it. jhannah Posted April 9, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 9, 2004 Never had a problem, either. Cabins and public areas are well-maintained and thoroughly cleaned ... and ventilation is good. I never go to the casino except to look around when I board the ship. Since I live in 'Vegas, there's no real attraction to me! 'Vegas Jim
arlenemilt Posted April 9, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 9, 2004 Carnival Paradise is still no smoking, but that will end in September when it gets transferred to California. This ship will do 3 and 4 day cruises. I did 3 cruises on this ship; 21 days of pure heaven. Many, many ships are nicer/bigger/ etc., but no other ship smells so good. I'm sorry to see it go to smoking, but revenue is still the number one priority, and a no smoking ship doesn't do the big numbers. Arlene
Pam in CA Posted April 9, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 9, 2004 I too am very sensitive to smoke and the smell of smoke but rarely have a problem on Princess. Every now and then there's an inconsiderate person who carries a cigarette or cigar around but I've never had a cabin that smelled of smoke.
