What Carnival item do you think is overrated?

Over rated:

Hasbro the Game Show... boring.

Playlist, virtual shows, as opposed to the real thing that used to be offered.

Too many darn "sales" that aren't sales (just have some real ones about once per season).

Adult comedy shows... "bad words and political incorrectness aren't inherently humorous. They can be, but it takes skill.

Under rated:

The pizza... some of my favorite pizza.

Carnival staterooms (outside or balcony) larger than many other lines, laid out well, and comfortable.

Flying fish :-)

Casino offers on cruises. People act like they are getting free cruises when they are really prepaying for them in the casino. At probably a much higher rate than if they would have just paid for the cruise in the first place.

If you are assuming that they have to lose large, or even medium sums of money you could be very wrong. Coin in does not mean it is all your money. A very large percentage of it could be money that you won and put back in. We got two 7 day cruises this year; balcony cabins; one for a total of $500.00 and another for a total of $600.00 for two people; not per person. Roxanne reached 1500 points on a cruise in January and she got a casino offer which we were able to use twice. She lost $200.00 on the January cruise. So we got two 7 day cruises for two people for $500 + $600 + $200 = $1300.00. What do you pay for 14 days of cruising in a balcony cabin on the Glory and the Breeze?

I'm not a fan of the food at all. I don't go on a cruise to eat, so it's no biggie to me. I'm one of those weird people who lose weight on a cruise! Other than that, if I don't like something, I just avoid it. I always have a great time!

The old shows that were replaced by Playlist. I do not care for either. What I do miss are magicians, comedic jugglers and, especially, a hypnotist they had a couple of times.

Need to go on the longer cruises. We had a variety on our HI cruise. Most unusual was a lasso/bullwhip artist.

Totally agree - I find the food pretty gross for the most part. Love cruising but I'm totally mystified when people rave about the food...one step above Golden Corral imho. And not a big step.

Okay, I am sure I will get flamed but here it goes.

Guys Burgers...can't stand the stinch of the grease on the Lido deck from them and to me they are just okay. Give me a homemade burger with a homemade bun any day over those.

I agree on CMC...not a fan here.

I agree, Guy's Burgers is nothing special.

I'm glad someone else out there shares my opinion about the food!

It seems everyone is gaga over the melting cake and Caesar salad and I don't like either. I also don't get the point of FTTF. We have sailed once with it and once without it and didn't really notice a huge difference.

Totally agree FTTF is a total waste of $$$.

I agree. Also hate the game shows that are supposed to be entertainment - they're Ok as long as they aren't intended to be one of the main events of the evening.

And, I don't think the Adult Comedy Club is all that funny. I'm certainly not a prude, but constantly dropping F bombs does not make someone funny IMO. They need to have good material to begin with and quite a few of them don't.

I'm Platinum on Carnival, but don't cruise with them as frequently as I used to and probably won't until the entertainment issues change.

Agree about the sales that are not sales. Just price the crap low. Why do so many people not realize that they do this crap every single cruise, and realistically they could just price the crap "low" to begin with. The cruise director goes on and on about the sales so much that I start tuning him out. He could call us to muster stations and I'd completely miss it because I've been tuning out his sales pitch all week.

Shore Excursions, I'd rather poke around unguided, or plan something to do beforehand, They're overpriced, so are the cabanas and villas on HMC.

And I seriously agree with the comedians. My last cruise I kept missing the show at The Punchliner, finally on the last night I make it in just before the show. It was packed and I walked up to the bar and ordered a drink, by the time it was handed to me I walked out. Childish humor by "comedians" who have the brilliance of a 13 year old who's taken to using profanity around his friends.

The relaxed evening dress code, I'm of the opinion that if one can't dress for dinner, food is available on the Lido Deck at the buffets. Holland America used to be good about this, but alas, people complain about policies that they agreed to when they bought the ticket. and you have people walking around the promenade in shorts after six. Part of the fun of cruising was seeing dapper men accompanying stylish women. Now it looks like a trip to the dollar store. It makes a cruise feel less like a memorable event, and more like spending a week in a motor lodge while your house is being fumigated.

I do like John Heald though, the man has been with Carnival for almost 30 years. worked his way up through the ranks, and any of us would be happy to have his position and salary. He does his job, yes he's the mouthpiece of the management, but I doubt many of the people here on these message boards could deal with the sheer number of requests and complaints that the man deals with on a daily basis and still have a sense of humor.

I actually like pretty much all the things people are mentioning.

I enjoy Guy's Burgers, CMC, John Heald, Ceasar Salad, Blue Iguana Cantina, etc.

Perhaps one thing that is very characteristically "Carnival" that isn't my cup of tea is the feeling of a constant party atmosphere. When on vacation, I tend to avoid crowds and seek out a combination of solitary, but highly active, things to do. But I continue to cruise with Carnival because they do a great job of providing a good time for people like me in addition to those who want to dance and go to karaoke and hang out at a deck party for sail away.

Too funny. We love Guys burgers, Blue Iguana (burritos), melting cake, escargot, and John Heald. I guess we enjoy Carnival [emoji16]. To each their own though. And experiences vary ship to ship and crew to crew.

Overrated- spas, sales, formal nights, dining room pictures, Hasbro.

My two cents
