Are the Carnival shore excursions charged immediately?

I'm going to book a shore excursion with Carnival. Should I expect that payment to immediately be on my charge card? Or do they wait closer to sailing date? I believe we are 40 days away from sailing.

thanks! :)

Your charge card will be charged immediately.

Have a great cruise.

"Too Bad ... So Sad" (as our grandchildren would say....)

Unfortunately, on Carnival they must be immediately charged to your credit card. :(

Carnival is not alone. Most mass market cruise lines do it that way.

Princess is the only one I know that allows you to book shore excursions in advance and not change until you are actually on the ship.

Disney doesn't charge in advance either...

MSC also handles it like Princess. You book the excursions ahead of time and they are charged to the onboard account.

It's really good to know the ones that have this option and those that don't.

Glad to hear MSC does. :)

On Carnival when you book on line you pay at the time of booking.

Disney doesn’t charge you when you book on line. Which is a problem because people book excursions just to save them if they may want to use them.

You can cancel a booked excursion up to a couple of days before the cruise. If you are going to cancel a cruise you may want to cancel your excursions first.

want to save almost 50%, book it on your own, my son is a Captain in St. Thomas and Carnival adds a hefty booking fee to the actual excursion price

Of course they do. Profitable businesses don't stay in business very long if they don't make a profit.

There are also many benefits and behind the scenes costs associated with contracting with an excursion vendor that increases the costs to a cruiseline sold excursion.
