ussminnow Posted July 16, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 16, 2015 Hello! Has anyone taken the "Chilkoot Lake Kayak Experience" excursion through Princess or another outfit that traveled from Skagway to Haines, and did a kayaking excursion there? If so, how was it and would you recommend it? Thank you!
Budget Queen Posted July 16, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 16, 2015 I find this a very tame, so so tour. I don't find it worth the expense, with no extra time of at least several hours, to take advantage of being in Haines.
Suzanne123 Posted July 16, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 16, 2015 For me, it was just OK. Beautiful lake, and nice guides, but you don't see a lot of wildlife (maybe a fish jumping, but that was it.). Would be a good trip for beginners, as the water is very calm. *(Tip - Make sure you use the restroom on the ship or the ferry before you leave for the tour. The available "facilities" at the lake were absolutely the worst I have ever encountered.):(
ussminnow Posted July 20, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted July 20, 2015 Thank you for the information! Did you get to see much of the town of Haines?
Suzanne123 Posted July 20, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 20, 2015 Yes, but the town is very small. We had maybe 15 or 20 minutes driving in town.

Contrary, I have never run into anything but clean, stocked outhouses on the Dalton.
