relgiez Posted August 4, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 4, 2015 When my wife and I went on a cruise without the kids on Carnival, it was easy to stay in contact for free through the free access to Carnivals website. You can open a thread(almost private) and post back and forth with your family. Just name the thread on their website your last name so that your family at home can find it. Had free access to an email like system all week. So far I have not found anything like that with Royal Caribbean. Do they have free access to their website, and if so, is there a place to do something similar to that on there? Please help....just want to do quick messages occasionally and don't want to pay $15 a day to do it. Thanks in advance.
Clarea Posted August 4, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 4, 2015 (edited) You do have free access to Royal's website, but there is no "posting" function on their website. Text messages sent from your phone while at sea are usually around $0.50, depending on your carrier. Edited August 4, 2015 by clarea
DarthGrady Posted August 5, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 5, 2015 Royal is slowly rolling out a new system that will work on mobile devices and will include a messaging service. It's called Royal iQ, but it's only available on the Quantum Class ships for now. It'll be added to the Oasis Class ships in the near future. relgiez Posted August 5, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted August 5, 2015 We will be on the Oasis in December. Hopefully it will be out by then. Will it be cheaper than the internet access of $15 a day?
scorpluvsdolphins Posted August 5, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 5, 2015 Wish they kept the ONE hour option. If you have an iPhone, you can text iPhone to iPhone. It was great. I only needed an hour for a 7 night cruise. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
relgiez Posted August 5, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted August 5, 2015 For phones....all they have is the unlimited option right? No time frame such as 5 hrs? Like you said about how they used to have 1 hr?

The minimum you can buy is a continuous 24 hours of unlimited use.
cb at sea Posted August 5, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 5, 2015 Assuming the "kids" are with someone you TRUST to care for them...take a vacation from the constant contact. E-mail them once or twice....or call in a port...and be done with it!

E-mail them once or twice....or call in a port...and be done with it! OP said that she wanted to do "quick messages occasionally"...nobody said anything about "constant contact". Some folks actually care more about their children and their needs than they do about themselves. Maybe that is a concept you don't understand?
