Recommendations for collapsible cooler

Hi Folks,

I am looking into possibly buying a collapsible cooler to pack into my checked luggage for the purpose of keeping it only in the cabin for ice. I've heard of many folks tipping the cabin steward at the beginning of the cruise and asking them to keep the cooler full of ice throughout the day.

Does anyone have a collapsible cooler that they particularly recommend and do not have to worry about any leaks? I'm also wondering if some of these popular cooler bags also might do the trick, but still wouldn't want to worry about leaking.

I want to avoid calling room service every few hours for more ice :)

They don't put ice buckets in the rooms anymore. The room steward will provide one AND keep your personal cooler stocked with ice at each cleaning if you ask. Make sure you empty the water out yourself so there is room for more ice. No tip required, but surely appreciated.

We bought one at Costco for ~20 and it worked perfectly. It holds quite a few cans/bottles and our steward kept it full of ice. I found a picture of it online.

You beat me to it! That is exactly the cooler we take with us when we travel, and the one I was going to recommend. Folds easily into checked luggage.

Thanks all! I am hoping my local Costco still might carry it. Doesn't look like they have it on Costco.com. Keeping my fingers crossed, despite all of the Christmas decorations they just rolled out with! :)

Just go to amazon.com and do a search on collapsible coolers.

Carnival no longer provides an ice bucket in every room. You must request one from your room steward. We also take a small soft side cooler with a plastic insert. it holds 4 cans of pop. The steward also puts ice in it for us. We give him/her an extra tip at the end of the cruise.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

Our last cruise we bought one from the carnival website. It was a drink package that had beer in it also and it was waiting for us in our room. We used it all week to keep drinks iced down.

I think buying the beer/cooler package on Carnival for $39 is the winner! ;-)
