CutestLittleEvil Posted August 25, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 25, 2015 Is there a drink limit with the drinks on us card that carnival offers like the 15 drink limit on cheers? Not that I would ever get the DOU card, the little $1.80 I play one time on slots to win the car does not qualify me for any casino perks :D I was just curious if carnival lets (encourages) you get super smashed if you are likely to continue donate to the casino. Dork42775 Posted August 25, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2015 It cuts you off at 15 drinks. Even if you have the dou card and cheers it is still 15.

maeormaenot Posted August 27, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 27, 2015 In July, we were sitting at the atrium bar close to 2AM and a fella jumped u and started dancing, and hollering because he had hit 15. It was quite comical!
okgirl Posted August 27, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 27, 2015 The DOU card doesn't have a limit, but with how slow they are to deliver drinks it's hardly worth spending the money in the casino to get to 1500 points to earn it. You can have both, but be sure if you order a drink in the casino that they charge it against the Players Club and NOT against your Cheers which does have the 15 drink limit. Actually, the DOU card does have the same 15 drink limit now. We have gotten the card the past few cruises and they explained that when they handed us the card. One nice thing about the DOU card is that when you order a soda (or bottle of water), they bring you the whole, unopened can as opposed to just pouring you a glass as they do with the Cheers card.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you. Last month on Carnival Dream, the man next to me got his DOU card before I did. He didn't even know what it was so Kyle, a casino host, explained it to him. He said that there was a limit of 15 drinks per day. He also explained that this total also included Cheers if he had had that. I don't know if this is only on Dream or if it's a new practice for all ships, but there was definitely a limit on Dream.

Are you a table player or slot player? The reason I ask is because my wife and I can put it down pretty quickly. We both play table games and we can't keep up with the waiters when we have a DOU card. We normally tip $1.00 a drink and once we get the point across that we like to drink we normally can't keep up. On my last cruise, on the Sunshine more than once they would just come by with my Mick Ultra and her Merlot without us even asking for one. pokerski82 Posted August 27, 2015 #11 Share Posted August 27, 2015 I play table games and on my last cruise first time getting the drink card the service was very slow. They had maybe two people working the casino. It seemed when I tipped them they got slower. My next cruise is on the sunshine so hopefully the service is better. My wife and I pretty much play Blackjack exclusively. I have been known to stop playing until my drink arrives. I let the dealer and the pit critters know that as soon as my drink arrives I will start playing again. Usually after that I have no problem getting a drink. It is a simple formula, if it is taking to long to get a drink they won't get my action. In 30 years of playing Blackjack this seems to work pretty well. As a side note on The Sunshine last week several times my wife would have two full Merlots and I would have two full Mick Ultra's without asking for the second one. I've asked the pit boss if someone is coming around more than once but it has never occurred to me to do this. I now KNOW how to get a drink. As for the limit, I doubt that if you are gambling a good bit, not outwardly showing signs of being "drunk" that you would be cut off. Somehow the drinks would continue... bobsfamily Posted August 28, 2015 #16 Share Posted August 28, 2015 (edited) Soda is included. Yep, in fact if you hit 15 liquor drinks limit you can still get all the soda and non-liquor drinks you want. In case you happen to have a back-up in the room... figmentdj Posted March 9, 2017 #17 Share Posted March 9, 2017 Reviving this to see if there were any updates. Question is I have the Cheers package that limits me to 15 drinks a day. If I am awarded the drink on us package doI receive an additional 15 drinks per day? Or do they just look at total drinks? If so, why would anyone want to bust their bottom to reach the DOU award if they already have Cheers?
Scurvy Seadog Posted March 9, 2017 #18 Share Posted March 9, 2017 It's 15 drinks total. If you already have CHEERS and then earn a DOU card, there is no additional benefit.

Unless you are a coffee drinker who likes the coffee bar, a smoothie and shake fan, energy drink drinker or drink other places than in the casino, in that case then the CHEERS card is of benefit to you

MarkAndSandy Posted April 23, 2017 #21 Share Posted April 23, 2017 I must've missed it, but how do you get the DOU card? Accumulate 1500 points in the casino. 1 point = $2.50 thru the slot machine.
RPMarshall01 Posted December 9, 2018 #22 Share Posted December 9, 2018 I believe I accumulated enough points last card to automatically receive the DOU card. If I have the DOU card and am drinking on the lido deck and charging my drinks to my sail and sign (no cheers) do those purchased drinks count towards the 15 limit on the DOU card? I would hate to be buying buckets for the group or buying myself and my wife drinks at the bar to find out later in the casino I am unable to drink because I hit a limit without actually consuming that amount. Moviela Posted December 9, 2018 #23 Share Posted December 9, 2018 All drinks are charged to your sign and sail card. At 15 drinks on your folio, you cannot be served more alcohol. DOU or Cheers it does not matter.
RWolver672 Posted December 9, 2018 #24 Share Posted December 9, 2018 (edited) With regards to bar service in the casino, we have noticed that on an 8 day or more cruise, more people have the DOU cards so the waiters are really busy It seemed like most of the gamblers had the card on the sixth or seventh day so there were a lot more people taking advantage of the "free" drinks. I say "free" because you have to pay an arm and a leg to get the card. Edited December 9, 2018 by RWolver672
