Alabaster Cruiser Posted August 29, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2015 Enjoyed the cruise. Some of the carpets etc showing age-----But- The staff makes up for any aging of the ship. Excellent service and extremely friendly staff. We had a balcony so don't know about OV.
tandemcruzr Posted August 30, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 30, 2015 (edited) We did a B2B (9 days) on her in April. Not our first time on her. Great staff especially our cabin steward Ni. Serenity was 'serene' and our waitstaff was perfect. Yes, some wear and tear but nothing that affected us in a negative way. We were in an OV -- no complaints. JGlennCruiser Posted August 30, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 30, 2015 Back from a 4 days on Aug 20, had a Main OV. Usual complaint with visibility due to spray but overall great trip, had ATD and between 6:15 and 7:00 we just walked in with no wait and staff as said before was very good, Gede our Steward was exceptional. antique sailor Posted August 30, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 30, 2015 AHOY SHIPMATE, I live in JAX about 15 min from PORT. Have cruised on FASCINATION 16 times in past 2 years. Pier staff is Very friendly and efficient. When you go aboard head for the LIDO and the MONGOLIAN WOK for lunch. IT'S GREAT ! MDR and maitreds / service is exc. First night dessert has the Black forest gateau which is better than the famous choc melting cake. TRY IT 1st day at sea the lido has KEY LIME cheese cake at lunch. Front Desk staff is great as well as the entire staff. 1st day there is no ICE in the rooms, YOU must call room service. Luggage is delivered quite fast and rooms are usually ready by 1pm DW and I are doing B2B on Sept 7 and 12. CASINO staff is ICHI BON. enjoy your cruise SEA YA

RuthlessBoss Posted August 30, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 30, 2015 My favorite cruises have been on old and small ships. Big and ship shape ships don't guarantee a thing.
scsunshine Posted September 12, 2015 #9 Share Posted September 12, 2015 Hello I am going on the Facination in Nov and its been a while since I have been on one of the smaller ships. Does anyone recall, are there hair dryers in the rooms (OV) and shampoo and body wash in the shower. We are flying in so I'm trying to pack light! Thanks :)

w&k Posted September 14, 2015 #14 Share Posted September 14, 2015 Hey folks- Going in a couple weeks... last time we did the Fascination, at the end of muster drill, we had to march up the stairs and stand around in the sun until everyone was on top of the ship. Are they still doing the muster that way? If so, I need to be prepared by wearing my good sneakers and a big hat. Last time, I got FRIED on that top deck as we were just about the first folks up here. Thanks for any info you can give me... Wendy
icemanoneaatl Posted September 14, 2015 #15 Share Posted September 14, 2015 Yes- if your muster station is not on the pool deck - the other areas are marched to the level and out to the boats- sorry :(. Was on the August 29 2015 sailing btw.
Wampum Cooper Pingree Posted September 23, 2015 #16 Share Posted September 23, 2015 The ship was clean, food and service was good. Except for one “minor” detail. The day of debarkation. While waiting in the Lido for two hours for our zone to be called, the ladies restroom need to be used a few times. That restroom had no toilet paper. Each lady warned the next to grab some “door handle tissue”. I notified deck stewards two separate times that the ladies room was in need of TP. Two hours later, a woman attendant finally went in. At that point we were called to debark. On another note: we left the ship on the 17th. On the 18th I started in with the norovirus. That lasted the 18th, 19th and 20th. On the 21st it let up. The 22nd I was back to normal. I’ve been on two other cruise ships (different lines) and never had these issues. I’m very disappointed. I hope no one else has had or will have these issues. bargainsniper Posted September 23, 2015 #17 Share Posted September 23, 2015 (edited) sorry you got sick, but I wouldn't assume you got it on the ship, it may have been in transit home. I only say that because your profile says you are from North Carolina and you either flew or drove home from Jacksonville, with chances to touch handles, public bathroom stalls, etc the whole way. Symptoms usually appear within 12-24 hours. If you are really tough maybe 48 hours. But for most people it is in the 12-24 hour range. You said you got it the next day, so I would suspect you got it in transit home. The noro outbreaks on ships make the news because so many people are stricken so quickly in such a small space, but 99% of people who get noro each year are not anywhere near a cruise ship. My family got it once over Thanksgiving. We know which restaurant we got it at because 3 people started getting sick one after another. It was 15-18 hours after the meal and we had not been around each other before that. Edited September 23, 2015 by bargainsniper
Marknga Posted September 23, 2015 #18 Share Posted September 23, 2015 we were on the Fascination last week, the 12th thru the 17th. Our cabin was E125 an Ocean View and we found it to be very satisfactory. The beds were set as a king and it gave us plenty of walkaround space. The 3 closets and 4 drawers were enough room to store our clothes. The bathroom was small but fine. I loved the location, about mid ship and just a few doors down from the stairs and elevator, or right down the hall to the main atrium. Sorry the poster above got sick. My main complaint: the whole trip went by way too quick.

AHOY SHIPMATES, I was on that cruise as well as the cruise before it (7-12, & 12-17) with DW and some friends. Only thing I noticed was the coffee was terrible as usual, but we are feeling fine and are our friends that were with us. I dont think there was anything about the ship that caused your illness. Hope you are better. We are going back aboard for another B2B next month. SEA YA
