TV's for NFL Football on Maasdam

Hi. First time poster here. We will be on the Maasdam NE-Canada cruise on Sept 12-19. We are big football fans (GO BRONCOS!) and our team is playing on Sunday afternoon around 4:00 pm and Thursday night around 8:30 pm the week of our cruise. We cannot find any indication of public areas with TV's (i.e. Sports Bars) in the research we have done on this ship. We do see were they replaced the Casino Bar with TV's for the new Mix lounges during the last renovation. My questions are:

1. Does anyone know if there are any public spaces that show sports on the ship?

2. Can we pick up CBS and/or NFL Network NFL broadcasts on the TV's in the cabins? We will be sailing off Bar Harbor on Sunday and cruising the St Lawrence on Thursday.

Thanks for your insights.

Dave

There are TVs in the Mix area, including a larger one centrally located.

But don't expect to get the usual NFL Sunday and Thursday channels. HAL has the ESPN stations, so the Monday night game should be available to you. It will also be on your cabin TV.

Toward the end of the season HAL will purchase some of the playoff games, and the Super Bowl, but they would have to pay extra for the CBS, NBC, FOX, and NFL Network games, and they aren't doing that for every week of the season.

Sorry. I do understand completely.

We've not had luck catching NFL games on HAL but Princess runs lots of games at Movies under the stars. They pick up all national games Sunday, Monday and Thursday and the venue is the best. Princess paid big bucks for a special partnership with the NFL.

Fall and football, just the best time of the year. Cannot wait.

Well we've returned from a wonderful voyage on the Maasdam. Canada/New England was phenomenal.

As for the football, we did not get any Sunday games. But they were somehow able to get the Thursday night game. It looked to be the CBS feed with Jim Nance and Phil Sims doing the coverage but we could not confirm. Also, we watched in the Mix Cocktail Bar with a good reception and full audio over the speakers. The bartender initially said once the Piano Bar musician (he was in the Mix Martini Bar) started we would lose the audio to him but with a little coaxing he got the ship sound engineer to set things up where we retained the game audio and the Martini Bar got the piano. Worked out great for everyone and had a thoroughly good time.

Yes

Unless something has changed, that large screen is not permanently in place. They use it for big events such as Super Bowl and the like. They put it in place for viewing that event and then it is removed.
