Flipper1 Posted September 2, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2015 What is the fastest way to get from JFK to the Breakaway Cruise Terminal. Looking for suggestions and costs. Also from the Breakaway to LGA.
SuiteTraveler Posted September 2, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2015 JFK to port of Manhattan is $45 plus tip and tolls - so $60 and takes 1 hour La Guardia is closer so $25-40 and takes 45 minutes. If you arrive during rush hour, you really need to book a car service to get a fixed price. http://dial7.com/ There's public transportation from both. You can take an express bus to Port Authority bus terminal for $15/person from JFK or $12/person from LGA. But you'd then need to walk or get a taxi to the cruise terminal, not that far (about 1 mile) but a trek with luggage. http://www.nyairportservice.com/
Flipper1 Posted September 2, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted September 2, 2015 Thanks for the information. I'm going to look into dial7, and hope it will work out. Never been in JFK or LGA (return flight). Do you have any idea what the tolls, etc. cost are? Thanks again.
cantwaitt Posted September 3, 2015 #4 Share Posted September 3, 2015 You can take the AirTrain from JFK to the Jamaica Long Island RailRoad commuter train station. Then you very easily pull your luggage to the train for a small additional fee. Once you get into Manhattan jump into a cab. The entire trip for two should cost roughly around $35. If you flight comes in around rush hour (6am-10 am) your trip time will be doubled as will the taxi meter.
Flipper1 Posted September 3, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted September 3, 2015 We arrive on a Sunday at JFK about 11:30 a.m., so we will be looking to take a taxi. Any suggestions on which "taxi" to take, and what the costs will be? Thanks for your replies.

Any suggestions on which "taxi" to take, and what the costs will be?Thanks for your replies. Your question was answered in the first response. Toll is a fixed rage of $45.00 plus tolls. Just walk outside where you will wait on line and take the first available taxi. Keith

The NY City taxi fare between JFK and Manhattan (in either direction) is fixed at a flat rate of $52.80. Customary tip is 15-20% of the fare. In addition you have to add tolls which can vary depending on the exact route taken...but $7 is about right. In total your cost of fare, tolls and tip will be about $70. If you prefer to book a car service such as Dial 7 or Carmel, your costs will be about the same. On your return trip to LGA, the taxi fare will be based on the meter, not a flat rate. Typical fare will be about $40-$45, plus tolls and tip. Again, a car service will cost about the same.
Flatbush Flyer Posted September 3, 2015 #8 Share Posted September 3, 2015 What is the fastest way to get from JFK to the Breakaway Cruise Terminal. Looking for suggestions and costs. Also from the Breakaway to LGA. taxis both ways. Fixed rate from JFK at about $50 + tolls (per route) + tips. So figure about $70. Meter on the way to airports. Base fare still around $50 depending on traffic. That said, I am always amazed that folks decide to fly in/out on cruise start/end dates. Big mistake for all of the obvious reasons. AND it's New York: waste of airfare not to stay a few days.

Base fare still around $50 depending on traffic. That said, I am always amazed that folks decide to fly in/out on cruise start/end dates. Big mistake for all of the obvious reasons. AND it's New York: waste of airfare not to stay a few days. As I already posted, the fare is fixed ($52.80) both ways between JFK and Manhattan. Between LGA and anywhere in NY City both ways, the fare is metered. If you don't believe me, read the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission's website: http://www.nyc.gov/html/tlc/html/passenger/taxicab_rate.shtml Airport Trips To & From LaGuardia Airport: This is a metered fare. See Metered Fare information above. To/From JFK and any location in Manhattan: Onscreen rate is ‘Rate #02 – JFK Airport.’ This is a flat fare of $52 plus tolls, the 50-cent MTA State Surcharge, and the 30-cent Improvement Surcharge. Passenger is responsible for paying all tolls. Please tip your driver for safety and good service.
