We did a transatlantic from Rome on Celebrity December 2013. Rome was sweatshirt weather, low 50's during the day. I am from New England however so any temp over 30 I don't ever wear a coat. Our cruise went south and crossed at same latitude as Fort Lauderdale, we hit one evening when it was "hold onto walls " just to walk but other than that very smooth sailing

Hi,

We did the silhouette transatlantic cruise that left rome on the 1st of December 2012 and we had great weather for the whole trip... If you would like To have a look I have the pictures from this cruise in the shutterfly link below which will show pictures of the weather through out our trip...

We had one night with what was said to be 20ft waves and some said it was quite rocky but to be honest it was fine for us and we quite enjoyed it to be honest...

Like a previous poster we started the crossing from further south and when we got to Tenerife the weather was around 80 degrees and very nice indeed 😎 and if anything went up a notch each day of the crossing, some say we were lucky but we have now done 3 crossings in late October early nobember and all were great weather also so hopefully yours will be the same... 😊

Get ready to become addicted to TAs as they are wonderful and very relaxing 😁

We have done 6 transatlantic cruises from Rome and Barcelona on a southerly route to Florida. We have found the temperature around 50 degrees F. I have always taken a jacket.

I don't know if we were just lucky but have never encountered rough weather. Crossing the Atlantic. it has been very warm...pool weather:D.

Our transatlantic from Rome to Ft. Lauderdale was in late October and the weather was very warm in all the ports and the crossing was mild and warm. We spent a great deal of time on our balcony. We made sure to get a balcony that faced the South (a US bound transatlantic from Rome would need a Port balcony) so we could have the sunny side of the ship....which is what we do on all our transatlantic cruises.:)

And so did we on our Eclipse TA(although it was headed East!!) we just used the logic that being on the south side would protect us from cooler northerly winds...and in addition we booked a stateroom that was on the back side of the hump, which further protected us from both wind and rain....we wound up able to use the balcony all but one day.... our next 2 TA's, one east and one westbound are also on the south side...in hopes we will have the same results!:D:)

We have had good weather and smooth seas on 4 of 5 TAs. The one rough one we spent 5 days in stormy weather, rough seas and all outdoor areas were closed, pools drained, outside bars closed. Finding a place to sit other than in your cabin was a challenge with 2900 people confined inside.

The worst seas we have ever had on any cruise was going from San Diego to Cabo....we were restricted from any open public areas of the ship....thank goodness it was only a day and a half. The day we went around the Cape Horn in South America, supposedly the worst seas of all, it was glass smooth...the Captain said in 25 years he had never seen it so smooth. We were ready for the ride of our lives and instead we got sunshine and not so much as a ripple of waves. :D

Bad seas can happen anywhere, but fortunately, they are rare.

We have done 3 all from Europe to USA. 4th coming up next month, 2 best weather in Europe (Rome) temps in 60s. Crossings were fantastic on 2 (weatherwise) too warm to sit on portside balcony during peak hours. 3rd was great weather with exception of distance between Cadiz and Madeira ran into a hurricane 70knot winds and 40ft seas. Ship was fantastic although we could not stop in Madeira. My point is weather is fickle. As Bubba said with a box of chocolates, "you never know what you get." Enjoy the trip TAs are fantastic.

You can certainly look-up Rome weather history for that time of the year and you might want to look at long range forecasts a few days before your trip. As to the weather and seas during the crossing, simply buy some dice and roll em :). We have done about 2 dozen crossings (including a few in November) and the only thing that is certain is the uncertainty. We have had crossings with perfect weather and glassy seas, and we have had 2 "crossings from hell" and about everything between those extremes.

The weather in late November 2012 for our Equinox TA was beautiful-sunny and high 60's/low70's every day. The weather changed during our first stop in Livorno-became cold and rainy which is how it was in Toulon.Went through a horrible storm from Toulon to Barcelona which caused a lot of glass breakage throughout the ship . From Barcelona back to Fort Lauderdale it was beautiful and calm except for one night when we hit a cold front and the ship listed until we got through it.

Going back for more next month on the Equinox from Barcelona!:D
