Saturday I bought a Carnival gift card at Lowes at had 500.00 put on it. When I got home and checked the balance on Carnivals web site it said the pin# was invalid. First called Lowes and they had no idea what to do. I then called Carnival and after 20 mins on hold she ask if I could send her a pic of the back of the card along with the activation receipt from Lowes. She said that others have been having this same issue lately and she would get back with me Tuesday. Anyone have any problems with Carnival gift cards?

I bought one yesterday and was having the same issue on the website but when I called Carnival earlier today to verify it the woman was very helpful and was able to verify it so hopefully I want have any issues when we get on the ship. She also told me she would report the issue to technical help regarding the issue with the website.

We've purchased several thru Verizon as well and are able to check the balances on all of them. I always check the balance as soon as we get them. Better to find an issue now than at the port or on board!

How long ago was that, as about 6 weeks ago I bought $400 worth and was able to check the balance BUT that was before the mysterious "PIN" button showed up.... Now none of the cards work, what is the deal with the pins?

I bought a few gift cards through a rewards program sponsored by my employer (but run by a third party).

I had no trouble using them to pay down our cruise balance by just entering the number on the back of the gift card on the Carnival web site.

I was thinking about ordering a couple more to pay for things we charge on the ship, but not sure how that would work?

Would we just apply the total when we checked in and get the balance back at the end of the cruise? Or is there more to it than that?

We usually have gift cards when we get on the ship. It is very easy to add the amount to your account at either the self-service kiosks, or at the Guest Services desk. If you do not use all of the gift card balance it will be refunded in the form of a gift card, sent to you after the cruise.

If you are of a mind to get the funds before you leave the ship on the last night, check your balance for how much is remaining in your account, then go to the casino and load the closest amount to your remaining balance on to your casino account at a slot machine. Before you turn in for the evening, or the casino cage closes for the night, go cash out your casino account and you will have the lion's share of your balance in cash.

I had the same issue!!! About 6 weeks ago I bought two $500 gift cards through AARP. When they were delivered, the first thing I did was check the balance on the Carnival website. No problems!

Two weeks ago I got two $100 gift cards. The first thing I tired to do was check the balance. The website changed the page to include the PIN number.

Just an FYI, the PIN isn't the one under the silver square on the upper right corner.

So, I guess for now I'll just call Carnival personally to check the balances.

The mystery of the PIN lives on!!

Where in the world does one get that pin??

Not true.

Some cards I've purchased had a pin, some did not. Verizon did not. Kroger did not, either the physical cards I bought at the store on the ecards I bought online.

But back when I bought my first cards, over a year ago during the Father's Day promo that Carnival had (which included bonus cards), they came with a pin.

Which may be the problem. Maybe the cards Carnival themselves issue have a pin but 3rd-party cards don't and now the website doesn't know the difference.

I love doing things online, but sometimes, it really is easier just to pick up the phone and deal with it. Of course, that all depends on who answers on the other end!

First - I have Carnival gift cards that have a pin. It is on the back of the cards where you have to scratch the silver stuff off.

Second - I posted about this yesterday. I was able to find a phone # to call. It is 866-270-1064. You can give them your card # and they can confirm the balance. When I called yesterday I let them know the site was saying invalid pin for every card I tried.

The lady was very patient with me as I had 10 cards to confirm the amount on them. I would not want to plan to take them with me for my S&S account without confirming the amount.

There is no PIN for the Carnival Gift Cards, no clue why the website is asking for one. Whenever I have used one, I just call CS and give them the card number no problem. It is definitely a mystery as to how one is suppose to put in a PIN when one does not exist.:confused:

Yes, there is a PIN number. Perhaps not on all cards. Maybe not on yours. Maybe it's new. I purchased eGift Cards through Citi last month and I was provided both a card number and a 4-digit "PIN". That's what it says, "PIN". I also have physical gift cards that I purchased to give to someone else. They have a "PIN" number on the back underneath some silver scratch-off material. At least I assume it is a number.

Therefore, I have concluded, based on a very small sample size, that Carnival Gift Cards -- at least MY Carnival Gift Cards -- have a PIN number. But, as the saying goes, "your results may vary."

Now, the Carnival website calls it an "Invalid PIN Number." So, perhaps they agree with you. But, by stars, I have one.

I am sure you will be good to go, just I think it is odd how Carnival added a "PIN" button when nobody knows where to get this pin??

Actually, I didn't realize I did have the card with me and I checked online and it said invalid pin. I got it at Kroger and it has the thing you scratch off the back that reveals a pin. All the gift cards I've bought there have.

I bought a gift card from Kroger today and went on the website to check the balance. I received the same "invalid PIN" message. After freaking out for a minute thinking I had just lost the money I put on it, I found this thread and called the number that was posted previously (866-270-1064). They were able to confirm the balance on the card and assured me that there would be no issues when putting this toward my Sail and Sign account.
