sammiedawg Posted September 28, 2015 #26 Share Posted September 28, 2015 Would also love to get to that island, but the World Cruises happen during a time of year when we have other obligations (living in our beloved Puerto Vallarta). The problem with Easter Island is that it is just out of the way for nearly all itineraries....and it makes absolutely no sense on the repo cruises between Australia/NZ and US. In an era when the itinerary planners have fuel usage at the top of their agenda, we do not expect to see Easter Island on many future cruises. Hank Oceania has a two day port stop in Easter Island on their repo from Papeete to Lima, 17 days. The first week is port intensive in the South Pacific. Marina does this itinerary, usually twice a year in different directions.

On the other hand, handling the flying to and from those ports is not a fun prospect...especially from the Northeast. Hank

Jet Blue connections would allow you get back to the NE. Flights to Papeete are tougher but we will take it in stages, we booked Quantas, 8 hours from LA. You can also go in through Honolulu on Hawaian Air, they have a couple flights a week to Papeete.

Hank Agree with you Hank plus the ships can only tender their passengers in maybe half the time due to ocean swells so it would be a large fuel cost for a potential big disappointment. Viesczy Posted September 29, 2015 #30 Share Posted September 29, 2015 Was that added later, once they gaged how many were booking the full cruise I wonder or offered at the beginning? J, We loved our cruise on the Westy and this year's plans would've been the cruise I linked if that had been made avail at the time. :'( Maybe '17 as we're planned all out for '16. Fingers Xed!
