jtwanabe Posted September 23, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2015 Will be there in October and just want to find a place to have a really nice meal overlooking the water. So many of the restaurants you come across are "Margaritaville" style places. Nothing wrong with these but was just looking for something more topshelf. thanks in advance, JT

ready2cruzagain Posted September 23, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 23, 2015 You could try the Wet Lizard, not upscale though but does over look the water. Google Wet Lizard in Belize and you will come up with lots of reviews.
Havingfun2010 Posted September 23, 2015 #4 Share Posted September 23, 2015 How upscale do you want? Maya Beach hotel and Bistro has an exceptional beach location and menu. Dinner could easily set you back $100.
RjayB Posted September 23, 2015 #5 Share Posted September 23, 2015 You might want to reconsider the port you have chosen for your special dinner. Not being mean, but Belize is not exactly the best place to find upscale anything.
evandbob Posted September 23, 2015 #6 Share Posted September 23, 2015 Best restaurants in this area of Belize are on San Pedro Island, and you'll need to puddle jump from the local airport to get there. Most cruisers don't even know San Pedro (Isla Bonita) exists.
RuthlessBoss Posted September 23, 2015 #7 Share Posted September 23, 2015 You might want to reconsider the port you have chosen for your special dinner. Not being mean, but Belize is not exactly the best place to find upscale anything. The areas we see are run down, however, if you watch HGTV, there are some very fine areas of housing so they must eat out once in a while.:)

Rare crewsweeper Posted September 24, 2015 #9 Share Posted September 24, 2015 (edited) For more upscale dining there's the Smokey Mermaid, on Cork Street which is just outside the port gates(Tourism Village) and to your right heading toward the light house. There's a Wine bar at the Great House (where some American celebrities have stayed)on Cork just before Smokey Mermaid. Further up Marine Parade is Celebrity. It has the atmosphere of a fine dining establishment, with reasonably inexpensive prices. Good food and service, but plasticware the last time I was there several years back. And if you take a taxi to the Belize Sign, there's Admiral Bay right on the ocean near by. Great seafood spot, but nothing fancy. Riverside Tavern is an American/Caribbean place all the way at the end of Front Street (left out of Tourism Village and past both bridges). Edited to add for those folks watching HGTV and seeing the homes in Belize, many of these are on Ambergris Cay (San Pedro). That's where Gene Simmons and his family stayed on one of their episodes. And if you go to the swing bridge (first bridge along Front Street) and cross over the creek, turn left and you'll come to Bird's Isle which has a nice patio where you can see the harbor. mdrobtx Posted September 25, 2015 #10 Share Posted September 25, 2015 (edited) We're flying over in 3 weeks. Most cruisers can't handle the anxiety of possibly missing the last tender back. Very nice places to eat in San Pedro. Edited September 25, 2015 by mdrobtx
