Casinos at Sea and Total Rewards

Hi all,

I am a platinum member with Total Reward (caesar's membership program). I booked a trip on the Breakaway next March. I know that platinum members get a 10% discount on booking the cruise, but I actually was able to get much cheaper through my travel agent, and did not go that route. I'm wondering if there are any other perks for TR Platinum members that translate onto the Cruise and the Casinos at Sea program? Thanks!

I don't think there are any other perks that translate. Can you elaborate about the difference in calling casinos at sea directly vs your TA? I am interested as I am diamond and my last cruise I utilized the 20% off from CAS but wondering if I could have gotten a better deal. There is one perk I can think of by booking through CAS is that you get a drink card that can be used while in the casino for free alcoholic beverages. This however is only a perk of you are not going to have the ultimate beverage package.

When I called the number that TR provides to book with NCL, I told them I was platinum, and with the discount, it was more expensive than what my TA was able to get. Dunno why.

That's odd. I've never dealt with a TA but is it normal for them to be able to get lower prices than what is on the website?

For NCL, it seems to be normal. I've never seen a better price on NCL.com than through a TA. Even with a CAS comped balcony cabin that I wanted to pay to upgrade to a suite, it was cheaper to just book it outright with a TA once you included all of the perks and OBC they were offering. I check prices every time I book on multiple websites, and NCL.com is always the highest in my admittedly limited experience. Carnival, on the other hand, has always been the same on their website as on a TA site. *shrug* Every company does it a little different, I suppose. :)

If you book through CAS, you could use the casino check-in lines at the port to save a few minutes. You would have got a drink card for use at the casino bar. As a non-casino guest, you would have to earn that on the cruise (i.e. no free drinks in the casino (not even a soda) without a drink card). The other option was to look for a Free Cruise offer from Total Rewards (you would pay for the port fees and taxes, but not the room).

Once you progress to a "Hot" level (probably about equivalent to TR Platinum), you get a free specialty dinner, and treats delivered to your room. Once you progress to a "Golden" level (probably equivalent to TR Diamond), you get $150 spa credit. And the hosts are more likely to comp more off of your room bill if you talk to them on the last night of the cruise.

Thanks for this. Do you find that the pit bosses are usually attentive with rating players? I only play blackjack, and I've found that many bosses don't pay attention to what I'm doing, even if I'm at a table for hours, and don't rate me accurately.

So,,,, it is pretty much like any casino. But,,, the dealers will ask you for your player's card and/or your room key every time you sit down. Talk to the pit boss after every session to ensure you are getting rated.

The casino hosts make [somewhat arbitrary] decisions on the last night of the cruise on how much of your room bill they will comp. If you are a halfway serious player, getting to know the casino staff and hosts could be worth several hundreds of dollars off your room bill at the end of the cruise, depending on your play.

And,,, getting a rating with CAS will allow you to book directly with them. CAS will comp the cost of your stateroom on a future cruise (you still have to pay the non-commissionable port fees and taxes). Depending on your level of play, you could get comped an inside room on up (and pay an upgrade fee to get to the room type you want).

Just came off the BA from Bermuda. Booked with Ceasars/Harrahs Platinum card. Got drink cards (good only at the casino bar) for both of us. Got a few bucks off the cruise. Also, with the casino card you can get bottles of water at the bar. You cannot get bottled water with the UBP. Got our drinks at the bar, then headed off to dinner with the drinks.
